My baby is six months old and I have been trying to find some shoes for him since it is getting cold and he is always pulling his socks off but I am having no luck getting shoes on his feet so I guess they are too wide. Where is a good place to find shoes for wide feet? He is already in size 12-18 month clothing and he will probably need a size 4 shoe. TIA

I have good look at Payless, and also Stride Rite. I know Stride Rite is expensive, but if he has really wide feet, it might be your best bet. If I go there I try and get the sale stuff. I found Payless to have a good selection of shoes for little people too, and they measure the foot for you too. Happy shoe finding!!! One of my least favorite mommy jobs!!!! Angela

My kids have extra wide feet, so we use stride rite. We tend to buy during the buy one get one 50% sale that happens every season to help with the expense. They also have $5 off coupons out constantly, but $5 off of a $40 shoe isn't much, but hey it's something!

Payless- and ask them for wide if you do not see- they always for me at least seem to have them in the back or up high on the shelf.

My Dr. says that stride rite is not worth the price that payless is perfect.

I had this same prob with my ds, he never wore shoes until he was 14 months and needed them fo rthe summer. We found Vans at JCPenney, they are like skateboarder shoes and they work great for him! We just bought him another pair. HTH.

Do the Robeez work? I got those for my dd, who has wide feet, but haven't put them on yet. I second the Stride Rite. The problem with Payless, unless they changed it, is that they put arches in even their baby shoes. Kids that young still have flat feet and don't want or need the arches. They arch can be painful. As far as lasting, Payless is fine there, because they grow out of the shoe anyway before much wear shows. Stride Rite does have wide, and we are lucky enough to have an outlet here. Perhaps you can find one in your area.

Try Sears, of all places. They had wide shoes for my DS -- the only place in town I could find that had them. And they were only $20 which is a super steal for wide baby shoes! They're white all-purpose shoes.. look good with dress clothes and sweatpants. And they clean up easily with a magic eraser. He grew out of 2 pairs of shoes before they were really even worn. Our next one can wear them, so into storage they go. My mom bought DS his first pair of shoes from a specialty shoe store and paid like $60. But the ones I got from Sears worked just as well on him and at a 1/3 of the cost, they worked very well in our budget.

I have had to put my son in Nike's and Adidas. Doesn't help if you need dress shoes. But I know that those two companies make wide shoes for kids.

I have foot problems to this day and I believe it stems from being raised in payless shoes. They are painful, poor quality and I'd rather buy used stride rite on ebay than buy payless shoes for my kids! Check ebay if you can't afford stride rite! I know I sell my kids outgrown shoes (they are still in good condition) and I see them all the time on there!
