Well ds has it. We took him on Thursday a.m. and the doctor confirmed. I was a *little* miffed, the Dr. basically laughed and say, "Yeah, he's got it, there's nothing I can do about it, everyone's kid has it, don't worry about it". Well, I wasn't asking him to do anything about it, after doing my research I already knew that it was viral and he wasn't going to get meds, but for pete's sake, I'm not a doctor (and I don't play one on TV) I wanted him properly diagnosed. I compared the blisters on his hands/feet/bottom to ones I saw on the internet, you better believe I want a proper diagnosis! Sheesh!
Anyway, it doesn't seem to be bothering him in the least. In fact it's pretty cold out her now but he wanted to go outside so he's all bundled up in winter jacket, hat and mittens and is running around looking for worms!
Oh and you'll love this one, I really hesitated to call his teacher because the Dr. said to keep him home until the blisters were gone and then he's not contageous anymore. So I call his school and they acted like they had never heard of H/F/M which I thought odd. So she said, "Well, do you want us to tell his whole class about him having it?" (like the kids) and I'm like

"Well, No, I thought maybe you'd tell the parents when they come to pick their kids up so they know to look out for it...I'm assuming he got it from someone in his class" and then she said, "Ok, so what do you want me to do..." and I said, "Well if you don't notify the parents then just forget it and move on, I won't send him until he is well...I'm only telling you because it's highly contageous".
It was a very odd conversation. I'm thinking somehow she heard the 'disease' part and thought he was going to be handicapped or something that's why she asked me if I wanted her to tell the whole class about it. Since their policy is not to tell the parents (grrr) I'm just keeping my mouth shut next time. Sheesh, you think you are being responsible and it blows up at you. *Sigh* At least he's better. Just thought I'd update!
