I work as a Project Analyst for EDS. Currently assigned to OnStar. Been with EDS 18 years. The way project work goes, when one project ends, you better have another one lined up, or you could be out. Well, I'm on a signed agreement w/ OnStar. They tell me they have TONS of projects and very good success at simply rolling the staff off one project and onto another, which can get tricky because sometimes some projects drag on a few months long (so people you expect to come free do not); and other projects start late (jobs you think are there are delayed).
My agreement expires the end of July. My HR manager has been telling OnStar that they either give me a 100% allocation thru the end of December or she's pulling me. OnStar is very happy with me. They got rid of 3 other PA's this year as they were not performing & actually dumped me w/ some of their work. They are currently giving me an actual project to track as the project manager is moving on to his new assignment, but there is still some reporting to do. They want me to do that thru September, but that is only 25% of my time. My 2 current projects end the end of July. My other project manager wants me on his next project. His next project has been delayed.
So just tell me already. Repeated contacts to my HR manager result in "heard nothing from OnStar." Repeated contacts to the OnStar person results in no reply. So now I'm starting to send out my resume to everyone I know in EDS. Do I have a job as of 8/1? If OnStar does not renew me, how long do I have to find a new project? The OnStar project management office loves me - says I'm the best of the PA's they brought on this year. Just their luck to finally get me trained & then have me slip thru the cracks.
So I'm just frustrated. Just tell me what to do. It can't be that hard people!
