I have the three boys taken together every late October for use at Christmas time. I also take a candid of them at that time that I use for everyone on our Cmas card list (not everyone gets a professional portrait, they cost too much imho).

We had our last family pix taken with the five of us....hmmmm...when? I guess maybe it's time!

Two years ago I had my boys pix taken with my father - their Poppa. That was really neat. I even sucked it up and ordered extra professional ones so all my siblings (4) and their kids (8) could have one. I got one thank you for that, so if I do it again it will be just for us. My father is 84 now.

I do the kids a couple times a year. We have one from last Christmas with the whole family, thinking we were done having kids and could finally get a group shot. Now of course we are having another so now that one is going to be outdated. Darn it, I even had the big one made for over the fireplace. So we will probably get one after the baby is born, we will see.

We do our own. For our Christmas cards, we usually use one from our vacations (luckily we have a good one already this year!). We haven't had a formal portrait of our family taken in years. I just like the casual candid shots a lot better.

I have never had professional pictures done. Last Christmas my stepdaughter tried to take a picture of dh, the boys and I all together but the boys wouldn't cooperate. Maybe this year?!

We try to have a formal family pic done every couple of years or so. We have a friend who is a professional photographer and does a nice job for us. We usually decide on a place and have him takes pics of our family, my brothers' families and my parents. Then, we can get a pic of the grandparents and all the grandkids, too, which is nice. We are due for a family pic. I hope we can do that this fall.

I only do professional pics for the boys at their birthdays each year. I actually need to get them in for their 1, 3 & 5 year pics.

We usually do a family photo for our Christmas cards. Usually we go out to a really pretty wooded park near here and my sister and her family go too. That way we can get pictures of each other.

We also get a family pic every year on the 4th of July. After we've gotten out of my parents pool and move out to the circle drive to watch the fireworks. I make sure to get family photos of all my sisters families, plus my parents, plus any other families that may join us.

We did an extended family photo last year out at the park. Someone my niece knew had just done her senior pics so we used them to do our family photo (all 10 adults & 9 kids). We hadn't done in about 7 years - when there were only 4 kids in the photo. We plan on doing this at least every other year, although I'm pushing for every year!

I also might take my boys out to the wooded park another time during the year to update the photo over our fireplace. We use the Christmas photo and then sometimes a summery photo of just the boys for that picture. I order them from Ofoto.com when they're on sale. Right now the 16x20s are $14.99 and the 20x30s are $18.99!
