We went to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg TN for 3 days this past week. Even with the high price of gas, we only spent about $80 total for gas there and back.

Sure I can share a few tips:

- we went during the week, before a holiday weekend (we stayed Wednesday night and Thursday night) so the hotel price was cheaper
-we planned ahead what we wanted to do, attraction wise.
-we took a cooler with drinks and snacks for the ride down and back and for the hotel room so we would not have to buy at vending machines.
-while there we ate at the continental breakfast at the hotel, we ate at local places the rest of the time that offered coupons in an area discount book that they had at the hotel. We did splurge on one really nice meal, but that was planned as well.
-we had a set budget before we left, we paid for the hotel and gas (DH figured out what we might spend on gas before we left) out of our checking account and we took and paid cash for everything else.
-we did not go crazy buying souvenirs. We bought a few things that we really wanted but we did NOT buy something everyplace we went.
