WHEW!!! I was beginning to think I was the only person who left my purse in my van. I've only been leaving the van out of the garage for a month or two (we're cleaning out my parent's estate, and I have a bunch of boxes in my garage now) and we USUALLY lock the van. But I admit I've just never worried about it. While we were out of town Fri we left our house unlocked. Guess I need to start being more careful since there are thieving children in my neighborhood

When the policeman brought the money to me this evening I asked him and he said there was a kid from our neighborhood, but since he was underage he would be arraigned in "juvie" so I wouldn't be allowed to know who it is. But I'm DYING to know. I have a 16 yr old ds so I'm sure he knows whoever the kid(s) were. He said I could call the probation office and try to find out but he doubted they would tell me. He did tell me what street he lived on, but since it's the longest one in our development, there are several boys it could be.

I had the same thing happen to me(and that is how we found out the lock wasn't working on our car)! They took so much stuff! It was right after Christmas and they took my purse, diaper bag, Trivial pursuit game, car charger, cds...tons of stuff! They never caught the kid but our neighbor saw him and knew who he was and they ended up moving not too long after that! It is scary knowing someone was that close to your house!!

Wow, yikes! What a way to end your sleep

My brush with the law was the first week I was home by myself with DD after she was born. I had two police with police dogs going through my yard. Supposidly a dry cleaners 1 street up from us got robbed as well as a bank that week. There were police cars filling up the street around my house. I never saw the bad guys and my dogs are really good about notifying me when people get close to the house - they didn't like those police officers! I think it freaked DH out when I told him.

The next week some older woman hit our mailbox with her car and the dogs were so crazy becuase of the doorbell and the baby was sleeping I acted like I wasn't there - plus I had no idea who she was when I looked out. It wasn't a big deal all DH had to do was stand the mailbox up (gotta love the rubbermaid mailbox!)

In preparation for the new baby, DH has beefed up the doors on our house - no more sliding glass door! Thank goodness no one has ever tried to rob or break in our cars though!

Nope, you're not the only one.. I leave my purse in the car all the time. Most of the time unlocked, and sometimes, in the summer, with the windows down. My dh will even leave his keys in the ignition in his car. In fact, he doesn't even like locking the house door, and if we leave, will just leave the door hanging wide open. It must run in his family because we stopped at his brother's house the other night and both the front and back doors were hanging wide open, lights were on, no one was at home.. they have two dogs that were barking away, but they were little fluffy dogs, nothing to scare anyone away.
