Someone on the board got auto start for their dh recently. I am going to get it for my dh for his bday next month. Before I start researching, anything I should know or helpful advice? TIA!

Yes! PLEASE find out how MUCH it will cost to have it installed. My DH installed one in my last car when we were living in NY. Our mechanic was ASTOUNDED that he did it correctly. The same mechanic would NOT have installed it at ANY price! We got one for my Mom's car, and only THEN did I look for someone to install it for her. OMG, I had to go searching for a place, finally found one in CT, and it was a FORTUNE to install! THe part only cost $40, installation was going to run upwards of $300!

Needless to say, it never DID get installed.

find someone first like the other poster stated also you can not get one installed if the car is a manual. It has to be automatic transmition for the instalation to be legal.

Is Auto Start the button you can depress and it unlocks your car and starts it before you get in?

Pretty sure that's what she's talking about - it IS really great! I used to leave the heat on & the defroster on in the winter time (after I shut off the car at night) & I could get into a roasty toasty car in the AM with the two kids when they were small - all from a push of the button from the doorway. It really IS an awesome device! (But, really tricky to install.)

yes that's what I'm talking about. It will be helpful for my dh in the mornings he won't have to go out in the snow to warm up his car. But the more I think about it the more I think I need it in my van too!

Thanks for that advice! I'll start calling places this week.
