How do you all save so much money with coupons? Reading some of the posts - it sounds like some save over 50% on there grocery bill. How is this possible? I have clipped coupons and printed them and it seems like I save $4 or some minor amount that makes me wonder if my efforts are better used on something else. Is there a trick? I don't have any stores (that I know of) that double coupons - I've used Targets printable ones with ones I've clipped. Is there something that I'm doing wrong or could do better?
Thank you for any advice.

What most of these ladies are doing is shoping the sales as well as using thier coupons. The best way to use the coupons efficiently is to stockpile what you need. Check the sales ads and vary up your stores. Use your coupons when someplace has something you use on a regular basis, for a really good price and buy as many as you can. You will find that not only will your total monthly bill go down, but that also eliminates 'quick runs to the store' for stuff you run out of frequently. When I was a SAHM, I would shop 3diffrent sales in one day and use as many coupons as I could. My savings would be HUGE at the end of the day.

since i live in an area where stores do not double coupons it is difficult to get an extra low grocery bill.. but not impossible.

I watch my sales, and when something that we eat regularly is really low & I have a coupon I buy it. By watching sales and buying loss leaders I am able to cut my bill by half most weeks.

Do you clip every coupon you come across so that if it goes on sale and is a good deal you can use it then? How do you keep them all organized? And how on earth do you do all of this with kids?

heres how i do it: I clip all my coupons and trade the ones i dont need for ones i do. i shop sales and clearances, i used manufacurer coupons with store coupons. i stock pile things that i use alot. I just started recently. and i have 46 bags of M&Ms and got them for like.39 each. I got about 10 boxes of oatmeal pies for .50 cents each, i have TONS of name brand shampoo- hair gel, etc for .50 cents or less. Ive saved a TON this month alone with coupons. ive even gotten my hubby in love with my new hobby lol!

I think you really have to have time to devote to it. (I don't!)

I always try to get my hands on multiple inserts. I know what sales are coming in advance and can trade for the coupons I need. I get tons of frees or close to free by combining B1G1 sales with coupons. It is alot of work but well worth the effort and dh is completely on board. I stack my inserts one of top of the other and cut them on my lunch hour, usually. If not, I try to cut them during nap time or after bedtime. The more time I have to seek deals, the better I do. I was a little skeptical in the beginning, but then I couldn't believe my eyes how I was walking out of the stores with a very low out of pocket amount and bags full of goodies. I just couldn't believe it. Last week, I came home with 12 bottles of shampoo and conditioner and all I paid for was the tax!

i use a metal lunch box to keep my coupons and there are virtually tons of different methods. I made little dividers and at the time, I had plenty of room for growth and now, I'm about to outgrow it in the next month or so. I'll be back to the drawing board! LOL

I have my older girls cut the coupons for me, they are 9 and 7. If they still want to help they sort them.
I make my lists usually when the kids are watching a movie, if home, or I do it when they are asleep.
It does that time when u are first learning but u get faster as you learn just like anything. I don't have any stores that double and I usually save about 30%. also, think of it this way. If you saw $4 on the street would you say that's not enough money or would you be happy for your good luck? You are looking at it the wrong way. Every penny saved is a good thing.

Thank you all for the great advice. I do agree that anything I can save is worth the effort. I guess I just need to stick with it and things will get easier. Do you all take your kids with you grocery shopping?
