Do you think maybe more companies will start jumping in and offering coupons? I suppose we can only hope but I think they would be smart to do so! The question is will they make them internet coupons or more paper clippings!

I do think it would influence consumers to start clipping

I think it would be a smart thing to do. I know I would definately welcome more coupons, on which way internet or paper, I would hope it would be paper because a lot of stores won't except the internet ones unless they go with the flow and change that policy.

I hope so, but really don't see it happening.

The coupons cut into the companys profits. They also have to pay a handling fee to the stores that use their coupons.

I honestly think that more companies won't be giving coupons like they were.

I would think the opposite as they are going to lose to all the generic/store brand items what good would that do? I HOPE anyway

I agree with what you are saying, but also a lot of the store brand items are made by the name brand companies. So they get a profit of the store brand anyway.

Even if I have a name brand coupon and the store brand is cheaper and just as good, I always buy the store brand if I can't get the name brand using the coupon cheaper.

I think the coupon will live! Most people will clip coupons and use the ones for brands they like and maybe find one that they haven't tried but wanted to and now that they can save a buck they will. The coupon is a money maker for companies IMO.

I say they can help stimulize the economy by giving us more coupons and longer expiration dates!

Hello, I am new to this forum, I am hoping to get my 50 posts soon so i can start trading coupons. I love to coupon. Starting doing it actively a few years back. Bought coupons from ebay. Yes ebay. Then I found a friend to trade with. The lady that i bought coupons from on ebay we have been friends for a few years now. Anway, I have a answer to this question.
My answer is No the companies will never quit doing coupons. The reason is because they do profit from the coupons. Like you and I, people tend to buy a brand with a coupon vs a no name brand. Most of the generic brands are gross, disgusting, or just not fitted for a person. I have used most of them, a good one is that people are allergic to the Generic TP (toilet paper) so they go to Angel Soft which is a cheaper brand or Scotts TP. And most of the time, Angel Soft or Scotts has a coupon in the paper within the last 6 weeks. The store that i frequent in Ohio is Giant Eagle. I profit a lot from this store because they double up to .99 which is great. Think about it, a .75 coupon is better than a $1 at my store because of the doubling. Recently, i went to Giant Eagle and bought 13 jugs of Santa Cruz Organic Lemonade. With your advantage card it was 8/$10.00 which was $1.25 a jug. I had a .75 coupon which was doubled to $1.25 because of the sale so i got 13 jugs of Lemonade for totally FREE. Now, Santa Cruz company will only reimburse Giant Eagle the .75 per coupon plus .08 shipping so it is the store that loses not the companies. Check the back of your coupons. Where it gives all of the details.
It will usually say RETAILER look where that it is on the coupon. Alot of times, i agree coupons stink in the paper. Go for the bigger city papers. I get the Tribune Chronicle a lot and the coupons stink in there, but then i also get the Cleveland Plain Dealer and i get at least one totally FREE out of the Plain Dealer so that makes it worth the $1.50 for the paper. I hope this helps.
Yes, i do a lot of research on coupons. I help a local Pregnancy Resource Center out helping and teaching the women there regarding coupons. It is a lot of fun.
Michelle
