I got an ad from Smith's saying that they will double and I think even triple coupons...So, how do you double and triple coupons?
Whats an example? I am so confused by this
I have avoided asking this question because A.) I feel embarrassed that I don't know the answer and B.) I wasn't sure if my stores even did it. (now I know that they do)

We have a store here that doubles UP TO $1.00 but doesn't triple...anyway at least at our store here what it means is if I have a coupon for .50 they will automatically double it to $1.00 if I have a coupon for .75 they will double it UP TO $1.00 making it $1 off, if your store triples just triple the amount your coupon is for. Most stores have a limit of up to so much so jus tlook for that, otherwise just double the amount of the coupon your using :
.25 off = .50 off
.75 off = 1.50 off
$1 off = $2 off
Etc...I:'m sure I confused you, that sounded alot better in my head LOL!

Thanks for your help!
So when I double/triple a coupon I can use that amount on just one item?
Like say I have a bag of chex mix that is $2.50 and I have a coupon for .40 off... I can ask them to double that coupon to make the bag of chex mix $1.70? Or would I have to buy two bags?
Ok, now that I have probably confused YOU guys, I will be quiet! LOL
Seriously though, this will REALLY help my budget.

Most stores you can only use a single coupon one time I mean you cant get like 5 bags & use one coupon, at least not where I go, and my store there register automatically doubles the coupon you dont have to ask it just totals it up and takes it off right there, so if your store says they double coupons they probably do it automatically, does that make sense? So that .40 coupon you have would double to .80 or $1.20 if they triple(over a dollar that is most places go up to $1). It does help belive me when I am able I shop at this store instead of Walmart because they do double, but I check the flyers first because even with coupons its not always a savings...good luck to you sorry if Im confusing you LOL!

No, that helps A LOT! Thank you so much!
I always wondered if Walmart doubled too....I guess that was wishful thinking, right? LOL Typical Walmart!
I just looked at the ad and it was Albertsons not Smiths (oops) and it says 'Double MFG. Coupons up to & Including .50 value on card purchases' and 'Triple Mfg. Coupons up to & including .33 value on card purchases'.
So what I am guessing is that you can double coupons with up to a .50 face value and triple coupons with up to a .33 face value? Now I am confused about the whole "value on card purchases"? I was assuming it was the stores discount card (i.e. Fresh Values, etc.) but Albertsons doesn't have one of those cards anymore .
Oh man, I am a lost cause, aren't I?? LOL

When I shop at Kroger (a store near me that doubles coupons) you don't have to ask... the register will automatically do it. AND that coupon is just good for 1 item.
Like your Chex Mix example - It's $2.50 a bag. You give them your coupon for .40 off, the register will automatically take another .40 off. So if you wanted to buy 2 bags and you had 2 coupons, you could use both coupons and get $1.60 off leaving you paying $3.40 for 2 bags of Chex Mix which you would have paid $5.00 for.
I hope that helps a little.

LOL! I wouldn't have even known if it didn't say anything about it on the ad.
Besides, you can't be too jealous, they are only doing this until 5/27/08, after that who knows if they will continue.

Ooooh, you're so lucky. Most of the stores around here will double manufacturer's coupons up to a certain value and once in a great while one chain will triple them. So far, they're still doubling the coupons that say "do not double."
The shopper doesn't have to do anything differently -- just take your items to the cashier, hand over your shopper card and coupons, and enjoy the savings.
