I was thinking of browning ground beef then putting my sloppy joe mixture in the crockpot and having DH start it. Our boys love it and I'm tired of the Friday night pizza tradition. He said he's leaving at 10:30 and we'll both be home around 5:30.

I'm afraid that will be too long on low, even from refrigerator to crockpot. Should I freeze it overnight then move to the fridge around 7:00 am? Has anyone tried this?

I have done this...and I think it is fine. I've never really noticed hamburger meat being "too done" in my crockpot! Yum...sounds like a good one for ME to do tomorrow, too!

I have done this quite freq. too. I have never had any trouble - and that time frame doesn't seem like TOO long. I would try it and see how things go.

Sounds yummy
