Ughhh I already put it together then read it only takes about 4 hours to cook which means if I turned it on now we'd be eating at 1 o'clock.

Grrrrrrr

Ok I'm looking at my directions for my crockpot. I'm assumming not all crockpots are the same(or so I'm hoping)

It says...prepare ahead convenence
Fill bowl and refrigerate. When ready to cook, set in electrical base and turn to low or high. Do not preheat base.

I wouldn't worry too much about transferring your crock-pot basin to it's case when it has been in the fridge. I think the reason this is mentioned as a caution in the booklet, is that going from cold to warm or hot immediately, can crack your pot. Maybe take it out of the fridge 30 minutes or so before you plan to put it into the unit, so it can at least warm to room temperature a bit.

By the way, my crockpot is going today too! What a great invention!

I would give the base a bit more time since it will be cold.I have done it before but it does take more time.
