Not using flour may be the problem. I've never done it without flour....

I used the cornstarch at the end and it was ok.

I told my mom that we had cubed steaks for dinner and she said EWWWW that they are usually tough and stringy.
Not when they are cooked in the crockpot. They are tender and fall apart and no strings. Love this recipe. It was good over rice.

What's a good side dish for this????

I chopped up green beans and carrots and had those in the gravy. I serve that and the meat over rice and had bread as a side. Mashed potatos would be good too.

I always do mashed potatoes, green beans or peas, and maybe a salad or coleslaw. And bread of some sort.

I don't use flour and mine turn out fine!

I also have Mashed Potatos with this!
