It's gotten humid and I thawed a large ham w/bone and don't want to cook in oven.
Anyone ever do in a crockpot? If not a good idea, any ideas what to do w/it?

you can absolutley do a ham in the crock pot....depending on size you may have to trim to get it to fit.........I usually put in about 1/4 c water and let it cook.

turns out great!!!!

an you can still make gravy from the drippings.

I used to cook ham in the crockpot all the time. It's one of the things I really miss since I gave up eating meat.

I would score the ham with a knife (make X's). In each "x" I would put a clove, then rub brown sugar over the ham. Next put toothpicks with a cherry (I don't eat these anymore either) and a pineapple ring on each one. Pour the juice from the can of pineapple and some of the cherry juice and cook for ??? quite awhile.

I always cook mine in the crockpot. I add peel and cut up about 3-4 potatoes and put in with the ham. Then I add a can of cream of mushroom soup and leace it for about 8 hours. Not only do you have a great tasting ham but a side as well. i usually save the drippings and use it as a gravy for rice with my next meal.

To be honest, it never occurred to me to add things to the ham in the crock pot. I always just add some water and some peppercorns. I'm going to try the potato idea the next time I cook a ham.

I was just looking through my quick and easy cookbook yesterday and found this:

5lb. cooked ham
2-liter bottle of rootbeer

Cook in crock pot on low 4-6 hrs.

You could do whatever size ham you want or what fits in your Crock pot. I'm gonna try it, I let you know how it was!!! BTW, you can buy a 2 liter bottle of Sam's Choice root beer at Wal-mart for like .50 cents maybe even cheaper at Aldi's, I've never checked pop prices there.
