You don't need a crock pot for applesauce. Just put it in a big pot on the stove, covered, on low, and remember to stir it every 10 minutes or so. It will be done in WAAAAYYY under 3 hours. Like 30 minutes or so. I use a potato masher to mash them up a bit too.
I just use peeled & cored apples, some sugar & cinnamon to taste - NO water (maybe a spash of apple cider if you have some). The apples are plenty juicy & don't need water.

The nice thing about applesauce? It is very flexible towards what you want. But above is the basic "recipe" ... and this wasn't added but I know someone that confused this before (I'm not suggesting that YOU might ) make sure you peel those apples!

P.S. Crockpots are nice because you don't have to worry about burning it!

I totally agree with the all the above info.....you can def whip it up faster on the stove...
but this time of year for heat and smell...its nice to slow cook.

and it is pretty dang hard to ruin applesauce...you just dont wanna add too much water.(and I always add the lemon juice/water)

What type of apples work the best for making applesauce?? I have never made it before but I am interested in trying. Also, how long does it stay good for. I am guessing that since it is homemade and no preservatives that it would not lasts for months in the fridge. I have no canning supplies and no idea how to can, so that is not an option.
