Slow Cooker Lasagna--

1 pound ground beef
1 large onion, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 can (29 ounces) tomato sauce
1 cup water
1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 package (8 ounces) no-cook lasagna noodles
4 cups mozzarella cheese
1 1/2 cups (12 ounces) small curd cottage cheese (I use the whole container)
1/2 cup parmesan cheese

in a skillet, cook beef, onion, and garlic until no longer pink. Add the tomato sauce, water tomato paste salt and oregano; mix well. Spread a fourth of the meat sauce in an ungreased 5 quart slow cooker. Arrange a third of the noodles over sauce (break if necessary). Combine the cheeses; spoon a third of the mixture over noodles. Repeat layers twice. Top with remaining meat sauce. Cover and cook on low 4-5 hours or until noodles are tender. (yield 6-8 servings)

Personal adaptation: Use two jars of aldi mushroom spaghetti sauce instead, more flavor. Also, I left mozzarella cheese out of 4 cups to top it off. Make half a batch for 4-6 adults.

Thanks for the recipe. I have always wanted to try a recipe like this and now you have inspired me to do so.I get tired of spaghetti every week and this one is simple enough to make and let it go for the day.

This is SO good.. My mom makes it, but I think she breaks up the noodles before she cooks them, and throws everything into the crockpot and stirs it all up.. She calls it Mock Lasagna. It is one of my fave dishes, and so easy I like it b'c I really do NOT like ricotta/cottage cheeses, and I don't even like normal lasagna b'c of the layer of it.. but mixed all up, it's so yummy. If you have a picky kid that might not like those cheeses, this is a good way to get them to eat lasagana..
