***if you like hard cruchy chocolate chip cookies NOW is when you will want to immediately EXIT this recipe***

4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
2 cups butter, softened
1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
2 (3.4 ounce) packages instant vanilla pudding mix
4 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
4 cups semisweet chocolate chips
2 cups chopped walnuts (optional)

Preheat oven to 350
Sift together the flour, salt, and baking soda, set aside.
In a large bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and white sugar. Beat in the instant pudding mix until blended. Stir in the eggs and vanilla. Blend in the flour mixture. Finally, stir in the chocolate chips and nuts. Drop cookies by rounded spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake for 10 to 12 minutes in the preheated oven. Edges should be golden brown.

Now start looking for hiding place where kids and husband will not find them!!!

This is how I make mine, minus the nuts because neither husband or daughter like them. The pudding really makes the recipe!

I made these tonight. Very yummy. I'll definately make these again. I added the nuts and used french vanilla pudding. I also made 1/2 the recipe and used a cookie scoop and ended up with 4 dozen. Wow!

this recipe is very similar to ones my Grandma used to make, they were always the big hit of going to Grandmas because she ALWAYS had them there for everyone to "help themselves" as she would always say

Neat! I would have never thought of adding pudding mix to them. I will have to give these a try.

totally the BEST chocolate chip cookie recipe ever! I don't add the walnuts. It's also very yummy to do double chocolate ones, using chocolate pudding mix. MMMM I can eat the entire batch of these babies for sure. They freeze very well, and the best thing about baking them? You can really load up your baking sheet - they don't spread at all!!

*I drop mine by cookie scoop onto my Pampered Chef bar pan quite close together, and I need to bake them for 17 minutes so they're not underdone. (probably my oven having issues)
