No-Bake Granola Bars
2 1/2 c crisp rice cereal

2 c uncooked quick-cooking oats

1/2 c raisins

1/2 c firmly packed brown sugar

1/2 c light corn syrup

1/2 c peanut butter

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 c milk chocolate morsels

Combine first three ingredients in a large bowl; set aside. Bring brown sugar and syrup to a boil in a small saucepan over medium-high heat, stirring constantly; remove from heat. Stir in peanut butter and vanilla until blended.
Pour peanut butter mixture over cereal mixture, stirring until coated; let stand 10 minutes. Stir in chocolate morsels. Press mixture firmly into a 13x9-inch pan; cool in pan on a wire rack. Cut into bars.

I just made the chewy ones and they smell great! I made them in a 8x8 dish instead of the 9x13. I thought they would come out to thin in the larger pan.

I was so excited when I found this recipe. My whole house loves chewy granola bars. However, they didnt hold together at all. The edges did but that's it. I was afraid to cook it any longer b/c they seemed to be on the edge of burning. Any ideas? I did put them into a small pan b/c we like them thick but not as small as a 8x8 (can't think of the size now)....HELP please!!!

I just made the first recipe posted for granola bars. I am wondering too if mine will stick together good. I did really push them down into the pan (9X13) so hopefully that will really help. The kids already had to have one. They loved them. I did tweak the recipe just a little going with what i had for ingredients. I used dark corn syrup and used mini m&m's instead of raisins. So the mini m&m's took the place of the raisins and chocolate chips. Once I poured in the hot corn syrup, brown sugua mixtuer, it did make the mini m&m's melt a little. But i just figured maybe that would help with making them stick together more. This is a great and easy recipe. I will be making this one again.
