Pineapple Cream Cake

1 box white cake mix
1 c sugar
1 (20oz)can crushed pineapple (drained)
1 (4oz)instant vanilla pudding
1 c sour cream
1 (12 oz)cool whip,thawed
1/2 c toasted coconuts
Make cake as directed.
Bake in 9x13 pan.
Heat sugar and pineapple in a small saucepan til sugar is dissolved.
Prepare pudding as directed. Add sour cream, stir into pudding. Refrigerate 15 min,then pour over cake.
Spread cool whip on top and sprinkle w/coconut.
