If they have had a daily nanny, she should still be their daily nanny. Whoever gets the children, needs to keep the nanny. Even if they have the closest relationship with the grandmother, she is older, and they probably should go to Janet, or one of the Uncles. I don't really know much about them or Latoya.
If the mother has not tried to visit the children since she was granted some parental rights, then she really has no right to request custody or to be the administrator of the estate. I am sure the children will have some rights to his estate regardless.
I know it isn't always the case, but grandparents are usually not as hard on grandchildren, then they were on the parents. If Michael didn't want them around his children, I would think he would have put that in a will.
