I saw the show too, and my only question would be... When do they have TIME for sex to have more??

What does the father do for work? How did they get the money to build such a big house and have someone come in a help decorate it?

I saw the show about moving in -- very interesting.

I don't necessarily agree with the way they raise their children, but their children are well cared for and very loved -- which is really the most important thing...JMO!

I do worry about those poor girls in those dowdy, oversized dresses -- and I only raise this because the boys look far more normal/fashionable in their polo shirts and khaki pants I think it's only fair that the girls be equally as fashionable!!

I am so curious as to what the father does for a living -- especially since he seems (at least in the show) to spend a lot of time with the family.

I believe TLC decorated it for their special they plan to air on them (that's what they said on the documentary before the newest one) and he is a car sales men and I believe they both have their real estate license. They built the house slowly over years and paid for it all in cash, and built it themselves. They are debt free completely. I think the did the Dave Ramsey thing. It says it all on their website :D

mrs dugger says on the special that they dress plainly because they want to call attention to their countenance rather than their clothes. i don't blame her. i know women on welfare who will only dress their kids in name brand clothes and shoes. (one is my sil) why is fashion so important? god doesn't care what we're wearing (which is mrs. duggar's point, i think) clothes are just clothes. how petty to be concerned about their lack of fashion! the special said that the girls make their own dresses--they have seamstress skills. the boys helped their dad build their house--they have carpenter skills.

why are we worrying about the duggar's kids? they seem well behaved, smart, and obviously love each other. there's no denying that michelle and jim? love each other. they seem to have a very good relationship--they were married for several years before they started having kids. they have no debt. they feed their kids. so what if they don't have tv--i wish i didn't have tv sometimes. and there's nothing wrong with teaching responsibility to our children. my older dd likes to help her sister do things like brush her teeth and put on her shoes. that's what the duggar kids were doing for each other--they weren't "raising" their younger siblings--they were helping them.

i think you'd be suprised at the number of church groups that meet in peoples homes. they simply don't have a building to meet in. so they take turns at the homes of the congregation.

i think it's mean to call them names. they are a happy, functional, god loving family. if they didn't have 16 kids they wouldn't even be remarkable.

flame away!

I thought I read on their website that they do have a TV but limit the time the children get to watch it. BTW I totally agree with you!
