Grissom is leaving! The show just won't be the same without him. I've not missed an episode since it came on, I even watch the reruns on Spike!

No! No! No! No!!!!! He is why the original is so great and why the other two are not nearly as good. This is awful.

Calm down ladies - Grissom (William Peterson) is only leaving for a short period of time (like 4 episodes or something like that). He's not leaving permanently, although there have been rumors for a few years that Bill wants to leave the show. Supposedly Grissom is taking a sabatical to teach a college class. In real life, Bill has been doing a play and he needed to take a leave of absense from the show. They're bringing in an actor (Liev Shreiber -- I have no idea who this is) to temporarily fill in for Grissom. Anyway, that is the story for now. I have no idea if the audience is being set up for Bill to actually leave the show at the end of the season or if this is just a teaser to keep us interested. IMO the writers need to do something to keep the audience interested -- this season of CSI has not been very good.

I know if he ever does permanently leave, the show just won't be the same without him.

I agree that the show has been only so-so this season. I'm kind of annoyed that they almost completely dropped the whole Grissom/Sara relationship thing after they buit up that cliffhanger last year.
BTW - Liev Shreiber is the guy who played the Gregory Peck part in the most recent remake of The Omen. I haven't seen any of them, but DH says he was in the Scream movies, too. He was also in the remake of The Manchurian Candidate with Denzel Washington recently. Strange that they're replacing Grissom, even just temporarily. I had read before that he was leaving on a temporary basis to do a play. He has not been on much this season anyway; I guess they were leading us up to his departure.
