let's see...
Blake did an up tempo song (not very well known i guess) and mixed in some beat-boxing (woot!). Judges really liked it. We loved it but he's our fave guy.
Sanjaya sang "waiting on the world to change", a hippy love song it seemed. it was alright. didn't go off key or anything, but the judges didn't give him good props - it was boring and he didn't do anything unique. paula told him to step up his game. simon said he was only there b'c the people liked his hair.
Sundance sang a Pearl Jam song and though it sounded off to DH and I, Paula and Randy gave him good props, saying he did well in putting a sort of southern spin on the song. Simon didn't understand it and said it was a bad choice in song.
chris richardson did a slow tempo song "cry" by keith urban. it was a nice change of pace for him. he did well. randy/paula loved it. simon said it was okay (that chris sold that song, and he wasn't sure others could) but said that we still haven't heard what chris is capable of.
jared cotter sang stevie wonder "hanging around" and the judges thought it was alright. he needs to step up his game and give the "wow" factor.
brandon rogers sang an upbeat song "I just want to celebrate"; they said it was a solid performance but simon is nervous the song wasn't memorable enough to take him to the top 12. he said that brandon is one of the better singers in the competition, but he hasn't represented himself well enough so far.
phil stacey sang "i need you" by leann rimes. they said it was okay - the low end of his range screwed it up though. simon said it was really strange.
chris sligh sang "we all want to be loved", an upbeat song, and DH and I thought he did well. the judges said he did good but it was the wrong song choice and he was better than that.
over all, it wasn't a great guy night. judges said only 4 deserved to go to the top 12. paula was actually pretty into it last night; and her comments made sense too.
let's see how the girls do tonight.
