I LOVED Lakisha's "God Bless the Child" (But I think I liked Bailey's version on Grey's better )
Melinda was great, and so was Jordan, Gina was good and so was Phil. Ikinda liked Blake's version of You Keep me Hanging on.

Sanjaya...needs to go home (TV Guide predicts he will) . And Chris Sligh welp, he started Endless Love and i had to mute it...He killed it...Dh thought it was the funniest thing when Simon said "You murdered it" b/c yet again....I was on the same page as Simon.

And Haley...She did a good job but for forgetting the words and I felt terrible for the poor kid!

Melinda and Lakisha were the best I thought, although Jordan and the other black girl...stephanie maybe...did well also. I think Haley will get voted through because she actually sounded good, and the crying thing always gets sympathy votes.

I wasn't that impressed with any of the boys. I LIKE Phil because of his story, but he can't hold a candle to the girls I'm sorry to say. I liked Blake better than I have some weeks last night. I thought Chris Sligh sucked and I normally think he has a good voice.

i hope Sanjaya is voted off tonight, but if not him I hope its Brandon, I don't like him. Melinda and Jordin are my favorites. Very disappointed in Chris Sligh last, he truly did murder that song.

I kinda felt sorry for the guys last night- being forced to sing Diana Ross. Gosh, how many girls can sing DIANA ROSS, much less guys?

DH and I were talking about this last night -- how weird of a first week it was. Why make such an icon the first week? and why make the guys sing Diana Ross, then tell them all they were horrible. Every single guy last night got negative feedback by the judges. I think Blake did well with his remix - it was a fresh spin on an old classic. and what on EARTH did they do to Sanjaya's hair? I had to listen to his performance with my eyes closed, and even then, I plugged my ears halfway through. Of course Melinda, Lakisha, Stephanie and Jordan did well -- they're the ones who can no-fail-all-the-time sing old soul with high range and nail it everytime. It just seemed unfair to the rest of them. I hope next week is less bizarre.

DialIdol has Melinda, LaKisha & Sanjaya as the top 3 vote getters. All the rest are within the margin of error, so any of them can be voted off. I think it will be the black male background singer. 3 folks forgot their words last night. Haley will get a pass due to the crying. Jordin I think will win it all when Melinda & LaKisha have their votes split & end up getting voted off. Blake at least has some style but he was way over-rehearsed. Sligh sang OK, but the arrangement was bad. Judges keep telling them to "make it their own/show originality" yet the 3 who tried to do that by changing the arrangement got bashed for "changing a classic." No win situation. The bald guy must go as well. He was better than last week, but that doesn't say much. Everyone else was just middle of the pack. This year is a total dud compared to last year. Where are the personalities?

Last year they did Stevie Wonder first week. Some folks thought it was slanted to the guys. So this time they did Diana Ross. And Melinda goes in there saying she's a huge Motown fan, so she sings a song from the Wiz instead of a Motown song? The song choices were really bad for the most part.

OK. I tried explaining my thoughts about AI to DH and he just looked at me like I was an idiot.

SO...personally...I like Gina and Blake because they are modern. Lakisha and Melinda are good singers, but they seem too old fashioned to me.

I also don't understand why they insist on doing tributes to legends. Yes...they are good and they are legends, but they are not modern. Why not do "mentoring" with people like U2, Kenny Chesney (these are just a couple examples). Have current artists on the show. Let the contestants do things that are on the radio now. How many people watching the show listen to Diana Ross, Kenny Rogers, Elton John? Let the audience hear them do something that is more them.

What do you gals think about Chris Richardson? I like him the best of the guys. I think Kiki & Melinda did a GREAT job last...very classy singers.

Princesbaby, I think that Pink and Gwen Stefani are going to be on this season. They are pretty modern!

Actually we liked Blake too. I think the judges are just not into the dance and remix's. I hubby really liked it and that's pretty much all he ever listen's to are remix's.

I love Melinda and LaKisha. I hope it comes to a show down with the two of them. That would be interesting and hard to guess who would win.

By the way, why is Sanjaya in the top 3 vote getters..... He just does not even compete with the rest.
