Okay, okay get ready to boo me. I really hope Stephanie goes home. She was the worst last night to me. Even Sanjaya entertained me last night. I do not care for Phil either. We love Blake. He is very good and I think he is an artist in today's time.

My DVR didn’t start up so I missed Haley. Just saw the recap snippet & it looked like she did sex it up a lot & that she picked a good song.
Chris R - I’ve not been able to figure out his appeal. He did this song OK, lame a song as it is, but he is too breathy a singer for me.
Chris S. - Love the song, thought he did pretty well on it. Didn’t care for starting out in the audience. He needs to stop trying to perform & just sing - he has the best voice of the guys.
Phil - just get rid of him. He was better than last week, but still. He's creepy. And it’s sort of 60’s night. Taylor wore a cool paisley shirt for Play that Funky Music last year. This guy sings Tobacco Road & he wears a shirt that looks like he’s going to work in an engineering firm.
Sanjaya - finally projecting his voice, getting a little gritty w/ the vocals. Yeah, he’s not the best singer but he finally put himself out there, stepped out of his comfort zone of whispery songs, and was fun. Way to go! At least he'll have one fun performance to look back on in his life. I bet he's staying put. He's getting all the press & the tour needs a "cute" guy to sell tickets to the tweens.
Stephanie - pretty girl, good voice, entirely forgettable.
LaKisha - unlike Sanjaya, she did not take the coach’s advice & step out of her comfort zone. She’s my local girl, she’s an excellent singer, but I’m tired of the aretha-diva songs. She said she was entirely unfamiliar w/ this catalog of songs - british invasion. Made me miss last year when we had singers who weren’t just folks w/ good voices, but folks who loved music & studied music history & could pick good songs. Just more of the same & it's getting dull.
Jordin - the best. I’m betting she wins. She’s doing better every week & she’s beautiful & confident.
Melinda - Yes, yes, outstanding, but she needed to step outside the box as well. How would she have sounded doing a kinks or zombies number? This is like her 3rd show tune. Broadway will grab her in a minute. But what sort of album would she put out? I bet if it's country week she'd do something from "Oklahoma!"
Gina - not the best/not the worst. At least she had passion.
Blake- he had trouble w/ the high notes, but he’s original & has great style & will hang around a bit.
I say it’s going to be between Phil & Stephanie. DialIdol has been unreliable & they show fully half the group in danger of going home. At this point, I want Sanjaya to go on the tour. The judges put him thru to the top 24. The deserve what they get.

OK, here's my 2 cents, for what it's worth. I for one am sick and tired of AI having "theme" nights, chosing theme's that have songs that were all released way before any of the contestants were even born, or in genre's that are not IMO American Idol-ish. Then these kids get out there, after probably agonizing over a song choice, and then they get blasted by the judges about how bad/wrong/old/pitchy/whatever they sound!! It just makes no sense to me & is causing me to lose interest in the show.
OK, Hoping off the n my soapbox: box now!! lol!!(ducking behind wall, jamming pencils in my ears)
On the bright side, I did hear that BonJovi is going to be on the show on May 2nd. That should be good!! I just don't know if I can sit thru a night of listening to these singers butchering my beloved BonJovi songs!!!

c'mon out, bonniebelle...i agree with you. it is soooo crazy when they make young kids sing songs from the sixties and then tell them, "that song ages you" or some crap like that.
that said, i think i understand why ai makes them do themes. if everyone sang what they wanted, melinda and lakisha would only sing gladys night covers, stephanie would only sing beyonce songs, and chris r. would keep pretending to be justin timberlake. so voters might not like a certain contestant not because she can't sing, but because the voter doesn't like beyonce. does that make sense?
jodie--you are so right about phil looking like the old dracula...i was thinking "bat boy" myself

Yeah, I do agree that we would get sick of the same 'ol type of cover tunes coming from each person, it would make for a pretty boring show, it would probably be more karaoke-ish than it already is, lol!!
I truely think my issue is with the Judges right now, they contradict(sp?) themselves soooooo much it drives me crazy!!! They seem to have gotten worse in the last 2 seasons.
I know, "change the channel, Bonnie, just change the channel!!" LOL
But I can't, I'm hooked!!

I have to agree with you on the theme songs. I think it is awful to have those kids sing songs most of them may not be familiar with. I really don't have a fave this year. I haven't been watching like I did last year though.

I dont mind the theme nights!
Okday with Stephani being let go.
I was reading the Entertainment section in my newspaper this morning. The writer thinks it was Phils turn to be shipped back to Uncle Sam. I know you guys were talking about how creepy he looks and this writer thinks he looks like Uncle Festor after gastric surgery. I guess its the bald head.
