I have been recording them on the DVR for my ds to watch but we haven't tuned in yet. My mom saw a clip about it on the Today show and told me to record the series. I turned on the first one and saw a little baby elephant that had wandered off path and gotten separated from his mommy and I got sad and turned the channel. I am a major softie. How old are your kids? My oldest is 6. Have you found that it is too intense or did I just happen to see a sad moment?

I've only seen two and last night's was hard for me too b/c a carribou (baby) got caught by a wolf (they didn't show the eating part). That really bothered me (I'm a softie too) and I kept telling myself that that is nature. My boys are 12 and 10 and my daughter is 3. I had to tell her that the carribou got away and was fine. (I think I needed to believe that too).

On the flip side, there was a fabulous segment on birds polar bears and the ocean was really cool to watch b/c they go to the sea floor. You probably caught the segment on the elephant at a bad time b/c the whole program isn't like that. At least what I saw so far.

I'm just interested b/c it brings the whole world to our home and I really love to see all the beautiful places and creatures this world offers.

I was watching it and as soon as they showed the wolves coming, I knew what was going to happen and turned it off. Reality stinks!

We have been watching a lot of Discovery Channel. We love Planet Earth, Dirty Job, Stunt Junkies and MythBusters. I'll even watch the show on military weapons. I really could care less about that subject but the host makes it all so interesting.

I let my older two kids( 6 and 8) stay up for a while to watch the 1st part. It was amazing!! My kids weren't traumatized by any of the 'circle of life' stuff. Dd(6) said it was sad that some of the animals were eaten but said it was also sad if the other animals didn't get to eat. With all that aside it's just a great program. We can't wait to watch again this Sunday night.
