There are not enough mad faces in the world to explain how I fell about this subject right now, does anyone else hate it as well???? I put this under "entertainment" because that is what some people call it! I am so sick of hearing about all of these loosers that are comming back for their second round of "being in the limelight" It drives me nuts! I am fed up with shows like "celebraty fit club" and "scott what ever his name is who is over 40 and is still single"- who in the heck cares? Of COURSE he's single, he's a guy who can't keep it in his pants- or even keep it with the same girl, what in the hell does he expect?!?!?!? He really bothers me!!!! He was famous, yeah, sure- but has done NOTHING for over 10 years except screw every girl he can get with! (these girls must be total loosers)...Celebraty fit club totally bothers me. BIL watches it and where in the heck are half of these idiots even comming from? Can't they just use what's left of their money to loose weight on their own? Why in the heck should we care? I hate what these producer people call "reality tv" lately. NONE of it is reality! Why don't they come over and video tape a month in my life, that's reality. What sane person would be on a dating show "flavor of love, Bachelor/ette" and make out with or even sleep with the same person that 1/2 of the other people are making out/sleeping with???? I cannot believe what the USA is comming to- it is a world of "fake." People love "fake reality" and some even THRIVE off of it. Is there even ONE reality show that shows people what REAL LIFE is actually about? And where in the heck did it get the term "reality TV" when it is soooooooo FAR from ANYTHING that resembles reality? OK, I understand. People watch TV and shows they enjoy to "take a break and forget about what is going on around them...or just for entertainment" BUT do we really need to call these pathetic shows REALITY TV?
Sorry about this long vent...I just want to know if I am the only one in the world who is fed up with this "FAKE TV"...OH, I mean "REALITY TV?" Crap? It could just be my hormones speaking, and I know I probably wouldn't be so Ticked off about it if I wasn't pregnant, but I know it has bothered me in a long time, not just since I've been pregnant...

Well I can't tell a lie....I do love a lot of reality TV. But not the shows you're talking about. Most of those I haven't seen. But speaking of obnoxious "has been" celebrities. Did anyone see the abc show where Cynthia McFadden interviewed Daniel Baldwin....UGH...could he have possibly been more obnoxious, or more conceited, or blame his problems on everyone but himself, and rationalize away his neglect of his kids. He made me want to puke.

I've only caught a few episodes of 'Celebrity Fit Club' because my dh sometimes puts it on. It's not a show that I would ever choose to put on. I don't watch celebrity reality shows because they're only about has-beens whose ships have sailed long ago and they can't get work relying on what little talent they have.
I think it's pitiful that many of these celebs will do anything in the world to be on television, including being nothing but a laughable, cartoonish joke. Don't these people have enough brains to get a real job once their Hollywood career is over?

I love The Amazing Race & Idol. But it's not really all real. Race has more realistic stuff, though, and I love the scenery.

You couldn't have said it better! I am totally sick of these dumb "has been" celebs!
Nanny 911 is the ONLY reality show out there, simply because the things on that show actually happen! OK, I KNOW that this isn't really a show with has been celebs but... dh and I use to watch survivor (before we moved to SD) and even though we enjoyed it then, we were still mad that it was called a "realtiy show"! How realistic is ANY of that? And when I say that, i mean when in the heck would that ever in a million years happen...People all stranded on an island having to do "challenges" and Vote people off??? Great, I know a lot of people like the show, but DON'T CALL IT REALITY TV!!! Find a different "phrase" for shows like that!
I get so angry at ALL of these shows that bring has been "movie stars" back just to get them into the spot light again...starlite is totally right! WHY CAN't These people get a REAL JOB??? I don't watch Celebraty fit club or things like that either, I was just using that show as an example...There are MANY out there now days that bring back HAS BEENS and they should still be HAS BEENS, not on the camera tring to get another run at being famous. There is a reason why these people are considered HAS BEENS! If people were truely into them the first time around, they would would have had staying power and not fallen off of the face of the earth for a few years!

I guess I take a little different view on this. Nobody is forcing people to watch these shows, but some people are (just look at the Scott Baio is 45 and single thread) are and it kind of seems like a silly thing to get upset about, just don't watch it. Entertainment is these people's "jobs" and they are working, so I am not sure why it isn't a "real job".
I personally like to watch reality TV (several different shows) and it provides entertainment to me, but I also respect those who don't like to watch them. I know several people who do not choose reality TV for there entertainment and I don't really like there choice of entertainment, but that is there choice and my choice is to enjoy some reality TV. Plus, you have to look for most of this stuff, I watch a lot of TV (I know bad vice) and I would have never known that Scott Baio is 45 and single was on, except for this board. So, it is not like it is being thrown in people's faces, it is out there for those who choose to watch it (or read about it on discussion boards)

i am not a fan of reality tv. the only reality shows i really watch are the ones on TLC or the womens network. i prefer the fitctional ones that are meant to be nothing but fiction.hollywoods perception of reality is nowhere near actual reality.

Very well said! I admit it...I am a TV Junkie, and I do watch some of those "reality" shows...For Entertainment purposes! If I'm not entertained, I change the channel. While I do agree some of them are stupid...they're still on the air, so someone is watching them!
