I did, I did!

Of course our car broke down yesterday as I pulled up to the bookstore! Darn car. I got out, saw the oil all over the ground, and told my husband, "Wow, that is a bummer for someone. Glad it isn't us!" My husband looked at the car and said, "Well actually that is us." I hate cars!

Anyway, the car is in the shop and the book is at home with us! I'm breezing through it (when the kids allow me) and currently my darn husband is reading the last chapter! No he's not a quick reader, he's' just reading the last chapter to see what happened! So he'll know and I won't. I hate people like that!

And yes, I just read this posting outloud to him!

We got ours yesterday. I am to chapter seven, I think. Dh is not far behind me. We are taking turns, but not very patiently. We are grabbing it from each other if we put it down.

So far, it is living up to the hype!

I got mine, although I've barely had time to start it. My brother preordered mine for me as a birthday gift last month and I was at an all day PTA conference yesterday. It took a lot of restraint for my husband not to open the box when the mail came, but he saved it for me since it was technically a birthday gift.

I remember when the last book came out I sent the kids outside and closed myself in my bedroom all day, but I am torn this time. I am dying to read it to find out what happens, but I don't want to go too fast because I don't want it to be over!

Glad you got your book! Sorry to hear about the car though. Thats always a bummer!

Does anyone know what age group the Harry Potter series is for? My ds age 7 has been asking if we could start reading them together and then watch the movies but Im not sure what age group they are really for. If someone could let me know that would be great. TIA

I've seen a lot of 2nd graders reading them or had it read to them (depending on the reading ability) and they were fine with it, especially the early books. The later books start getting a bit darker as the kids age. It does depend on your kid, I think.

I read the books to my kids together as a family. My youngest was probably no more than 7 when I started reading them. I agree that the earlier ones are not nearly so "dark" as the later ones.

Okay, thanks for the info ladies. I think we are going to give it a go. I figure it might take us a bit to get through them so hopefully by that time he will be ready for the newer ones in the series. Ds wants to read the book together first and then watch the movie that goes w/ it.

My dh birthday was the 20th so I said I would get the book for his birthday. Picked it up yesterday and the store I was at only had 3 left. Not sure how far along he is but the minute I brought the book home he was reading it.
