I'm just glad she didn't kill Harry. I had threatened to fly to England and kill HER if she did. I figured out (well I guess I should say guessed) that Snape killed Dumbledore because Dumbledore wanted him to. I remember telling my kids when we read that in the last book that Dumbledore said "Please Severus" and I said that could mean he was begging Snape to kill him. I must admit I'd somewhat given up on my theory when he was sailing through the air out the window of Hogwarts though.

I liked it, but agree that it seemed to dwell on LOTS of tent scenes that seemed repetitive. And there were too many near-misses with Harry, Ron & Hermione. They got repetitive too. There were just SOOOO many pages of H, R, & H camping out, nearly getting killed, plotting, etc. Then when the final scenes with the big battle between good and evil, it was over too fast. Not ENOUGH emphasis on that. They didn't even mention how Lupin, Tonks & Colin Creevey died. And I would have thought there would have been more about Fred's death with the Weasley family playing such a big role. And then after 7 books, it was just <poof> Harry kills Voldemort. So I would have like less of all the middle stuff, and more emphasis on the end. Not that JK Rowling needs any advice from me.

By the way--what was the little "blob" that was moaning, etc in Kings Crossing. My kids and I have discussed it and we're not necessarily in agreement.

Aliadam, my husband thinks that "blob" baby thing was the part of Voldemort that was in Harry. Although I thought it was Harry in Voldemort? I have to admit, that back and forth in the end, whose wand was whose, got a bit tedious, too.

I agree with you about wanting to see how all these people died instead of just poof they were dead.

I found the walking towards Voldemort scene very emotional when he was with his father, mother and Sirius. That was moving.

Overall, I think it was awesome! I watched an interview last night with JK Rowling. She said she left Teddy without parents, (Lukin and Tonks), because she wanted to echo Harry being left an orphan, and then wrote the 19 years later chapter to show that Teddy was fine and that Harry was fine as well. Saying the scar no longer hurt was her way of saying Voldemort will not come back again.

I am thinking of going back and reading them all over again. LOL

My whole family sat and watched that last night. We really enjoyed it. I know what you mean about reading them all over again. It almost seems like I need to go back now that it's over to pick up on all the things that happened before. She would say something in this book and I would think "Oh gosh...I'd forgotten that".

Claire, that is one of our theories also....that the Horcrux that was in Harry was the blob. But I guess I thought she should have made that more clear if it was. Some in my family thought maybe it was a "blobby" Voldemort like he was in the beginning when he was living on Quirrells head, but since he was dead...I don't think so. Plus if he was still alive in any form I think Harry's scar would still hurt. But Harry did say to Voldemort something about him repenting because I've seen what happens if you don't. So I don't think it was Voldemort, but the Horcrux from Harry thing doesn't really make sense to me either. Just wish she had made that clearer. Maybe I'll have my kids go to some of the HP boards and discussion groups (they like to do that anyway) and see if they can find any theories there.

My dh has been hanging around the HP boards, too, now that Lost is over for the season. lol

We watched the interview, too. It was very enlightening on some issues. I think it will be hard for her to move on past Harry Potter.

Everything I have read and heard suggests that the blob was the part of Voldie that was inside of Harry...the Horcux.
I have read this one twice now and the others 3 times. I want to go through and read it all back to back, but I need an HP break. The first 6 are so emotional for me, and the last one was a disappointment because it was so UN emotional. I think if I can take some time off and then go back, I will enjoy it all much better.

Yeah, that's our best guess too, but I just wish she'd explained it more....like maybe Harry "feeling" the horcrux leaving his body or something like that. But I guess if there's not more theories, I'll have to settle with it being the horcrux in Harry.

I,too, wish she had explained it more and explained a lot more! I really really hope she writes this "encyclopedia" I've heard about.

I can't wait for the day hat I will have time to re-read the whole series again :-) Right now I feel like I need to re-read the last few chapters. As things got exciting and I started to read faster, it became hard to keep track of everyone and everything that was happening. I am glad she found a way to not kill Harry. Since so much indicated that he needed to die, it really would have been too predictable.
