Thanks for the info. I'll see if my library has the books to check out. Personally, I think folks should read the book before denouncing them. Tons of non-christian kids have read Narnia and enjoyed them and did not become "indoctrinated" into Christianity (myself included) so I see no reason to believe that kids brought up with strong Christian ideals would become "indoctrinated" into atheism just by reading some books or seeing a movie. They might get a better understanding of people who do not believe the same as they do, maybe develop more of a tolerance or less disdain for people who believe differently, which I think is a good thing. I do not understand why people are always looking to "protect" their kids from what is out there - be it homosexuality, different beliefs, etc. Sooner or later they will have to live and work in the big, bad world, and they need to understand how to get along with people of all cultures/beliefs.
I do wonder why the religious always tell me to read the bible or whatever their holy book is to gain greater understanding/enlightenment, but if you ask the religious to read "God is not Great" or "The God Delusion" or other books of reason, we're looked at like we're asking you to stab your mother.
