Gas Station Owner to Britney: You Stole My Lighter!

Britney Spears walked out of a Sherman Oaks, Calif., gas station on Friday and joked to cameras that she stole a lighter.

Now, the gas station owner wants her to come back... and pay $1.39.

Chevron owner Jatinder Kaur tells PEOPLE: "Yes, Britney stole a blue lighter here last night. The lighter is $1.39. I'm hoping maybe the next time she comes back she will pay for it. I know she can afford to pay for it, but I'm not planning to file a police report. It's still not right for her to steal the lighter. I hope she will do the right thing the next time she comes here."

Spears, 26, did pay for some chewing gum at the Chevron, but on her way out of the gas station's store, she grabbed the lighter. When a photographer pointed out that Britney "forgot" to pay for the lighter, Britney sarcastically responded, "I stole something. Oh, I'm bad!"

Is anyone starting to think that she does all this for publicity? I mean, the stuff she does is just so outrageously stupid. We know the kids were for publicity. Or do you really think she is this truly screwed up? Can you imagine her at 50 if she lives that long?

I can just picture her coming out in a year or two publicizing how she "turned her life around".

I think Britney is on the same fast track that Anna Nicole Smith was. I hope not because I hate to see that happen to anyone!

You know I was just going to let this one drop because I pretty much consider Brittany Spears to be an idiot. But there was a picture of her today on People's website carrying the blue lighter around. This is a woman that is rarely seen in the same automobile twice! Why the heck would she be using this little blue lighter? She's proud of herself and her theft. Toss her behind in jail for a few days -- might help her grow up.

I thought all shoplifting was illegal. Even if it's just a cheapie item, it's still against the law.

I really wish the media and everyone else would just leave her alone. If they did, maybe she would finally get the hint that her stupid antics don't interest people anymore. I'm really tired of this no-talent has-been.
