Well, if nothing else, this creates a great opportunity for us to talk to our own kids. My DS loves Zoe. We talked a little this morning. He was VERY angry, as if she had disappointed him. I tried to tell him that everyone makes mistakes, and this isn't something we should judge. It should be something we learn from . . . .

I sure hope Miley Cyrus (Hannah Montana) is not next! My dd really looks up to both of these girls!

I hope she will be a more responsible, lower-profile parent than her sister. 16 is young, but both DH & I had young parents. We turned out ok. I've talked with my girls about making good decisions, but if one of them were in this situation, I would want her to come to me.

I agree with everyone's posts. it is just pathetic.
what business would their mom have writing a parenting book in the first place?? That was great that she had a curfew, but dont you try and know what your kid is doing??? I know that you cant know your kids every move. I know my parents did know every single thing I did when I was that age, but I sure wasnt having sex! But didnt she have bodyguards or something that would follow her around?? If her boyfriend is 18 than that was really stupid to let them date and be alone ever! What 18 year old boy isnt interested in getting "some"??? The whole ordeal just erks me. She probably wont take care of her kids 24/7. First she needs to finish school and I am sure she will still want to be a kid herself, so she will just pawn her kid off on her mom or some nanny.

Oh my gosh, I'm just reading this. My dd likes Zoey 101. It's tough for moms with little girls when the ones in they admire and think are pretty keep getting into trouble. I kept thinking how Jamie-Lynn seemed so level-headed and on the straight and narrow compared to Britney. I guess that was the wrong assumption to make! I can't believe the mom was writing a parenting book. What makes her think she has any sort of credibility in that area?!

Unfortunately it forces us to have that talk with our children. I wasn't ready nor do I think that my DD is ready for that talk just yet, but with this whole situation and also with the new movie previews for "Juno" that I just saw last night while watching TV with my children , my DD is definitely going to have questions.

I am going to play the devils advocate here for a minute.

The average age for a girl in the United States to lose her virginity is 17. Yes JL is under that age, but how many women on this board lost their virginity before or at 16??? I did. Am I proud of that? NO!
My parents probably thought they knew where I was most of the time, but as a teenager, you pull some stuff so they dont know where you are at all times. And if for a second any of us here on this board is going to know what our 16 year old kids are doing every minute of every day, we are mistaken. Unless you put a GPS unit in their pants.
"Good Girls" get pregnant sometimes. Accidents happen. Maybe she was on birth control and it did not work. That has been known to happen.
Do I agree that a 16 year old was living with her boyfriend? NO. Do I think that was a bad parenting choice by the Spears family, YES! Maybe she is not a good girl. I don't know, I don't know the girl and it is hard to judge her character without knowing her.
But ya know what? I happened to get pregnant at 17. I thank God everyday that he took it into his own hands and I had a tubal pregnancy. I was no where near ready to be a mom!!
But I was not some trashy get around girl. It happened one night and my life changed.
Jamie Lynn could have quietly gotten an abortion and kept her career flourishing. This girl may never get another acting job again. She will forever be known as that Nickaloden(sp?) girl who got pregnant.
I do feel sorry for her.
Sometimes in our lives we have hard lessons to learn, and this would be a very hard lesson to learn.

I pray none of us has to deal with a teenage pregnancy in their families on this board. And if it does happen, I hope you are not judged harshly for it.

I wonder if she did it purposely? Her sister is falling apart, her parents are no longer together and maybe she just wanted something of her own that nobody could take away? I don't know.........seems like in this day and age there are so many birth control options out there and with her not having to worry about the cost of it all, her ovaries (and eggs)should have been locked down tighter than Fort Knox!
