Did anyone watch it tonight? Basically the call for help came from 17 and 14 year old girls who are left in the house to take care of three boys ages 3 and 2, a hideous list of chores, and to homeschool themselves while constantly being interrupted by their brothers. Those teenagers were the parental figure in that house. At first I wanted to reach through the tv and slap some sense into the parents. These girls are teenagers, aren't allowed time on their own with their friends, are raising their brothers, and failing courses because they can't study. The oldest was so exhausted and stressed she passed out in front of the camera.
I think the father got it and wanted to change his ways and his relationship with the girls.
I wanted to see the new schedule where the mom actually had to take care of her sons for 4 hours in the morning while the girls did their homeschooling, but they didn't show that.

I saw it and it made me REALLY sad. These girls were in WAY over their heads.. I mean, when kids (teenagers) aren't even going to school, that goes above and beyond "helping" or "doing their share".

Where were the parents? What were they doing when the girls were taking care of the kids?

They were at work. Left around 8 or 9 ish if I remember right. Mom didn't get home until close to 7 and dad was still gone. It was downright abusive. Hire a babysitter or take the boys to daycare if you can't stay home with them, but don't expect your daughters to raise your boys.

I saw the first episode, but missed this one. I really wanted to see it, too. How horrible.

Yeap, I saw it. It was abusive! The mother was so disconnected, especially from the boys. When the daughter passed out they didn't seem that concerned. I would be freaking out.

The family is from KauKauna, Wi. Which is about a 40 minute drive from my place. The only reason i know this is because the local newspaper was advertising that they were airing this show last night.
After watching that show i was so ticked off at the mother i wanted to drive over there and find her house! That oldest girl made me cry, she just looked so beaten down and scared all the time, like she was terrified to voice an opinion on anything. Being a mom of a child with anxiety, i think this girl is suffering with the same problem. I just wanted to reach thru the t.v. and hug her!
I think the reason the parents didn't hire babysitters or take the boys to daycare is because they couldn't afford it and they didn't want to admit that on camera. I missed the follow up at the end........did things change? Are the girls back in school?
I hope now that this has aired that maybe the neighbors in that community or people in that town will keep on eye on them or contact social services about the situation.

** There is a part of me that secretly hopes that people in Kaukauna will not do business at the mother's photo studio because of her treatment of her daughters. I wonder if that will happen?

You never really saw much of how it's going later. Like I said, I wanted to see the mom actually take care of her boys, but they didn't show that. The girls had a separate room set up for homeschooling and they were supposed to get 4 uninterrupted hours, then take over the boys again so mom can go to work.
They did show the girls talking that it will probably go back to the way it was, that their mom was just acting like she would only do the new routine with the cameras and mic's on, and that once they leave it will go back the way it was. They asked each other "what do we do then". I wanted to scream at them "you call dhs and get protective services involved".
I would go to the mom's business just to give her a piece of my mind.
