Anne, the funny thing is that David Hasselhoff has always been much more popular in Europe that he has been in the US. He did do those two TV shows that were hits, but his music career here got him mostly made fun of. But I know in Europe his music has been hugely popular. Don't know why there's the difference.

Aliadam's right -- for some reason, he's always been a lot more popular in Europe than over here. The only time I remember him being really popular in the U.S. was when he was on 'Knight Rider'. It was on when I was in high school and I remember a few girls had crushes on him then. Of course 'Baywatch' was a hit, but that was because he had all those sexy girls on there. If he'd tried to carry that show on his own, it would have flopped.

No offense Anne, but I've personally never cared for him. To me, he's always come across as a bit egotistical and a little odd.

Im not offended and yes heis definately odd.

He has been in Europe a few times lately promoting his book but he has come out with some odd actions and comments.

He is very popular in Germany. Its just that I never heard him sing and he did an impromptu singing session on the program that had the audience on its feet.

He has admitted to alchol issues maybe thats the reason for the odd behaviour

He was popular when he was on The Young and the Restless, too. But now, in part because of Baywatch and how fake he is, he's viewed as a joke. It is amazing how popular he is overseas, though. Gee, what is the view of Michael Jackson?

Michael Jackson, he has been living in Ireland for the past few months. He has been staying in a Castle Hotel here and he hoped to attend the Ryder Cup. The American vs Europe Golf Cup played here last week (and won by Europe not that Im gloating )

He apparently wants to open a theme park here but hes not getting the backing. He is actually seen as a bit of a clown here because he goes walkabout with his children, who he has veiled and masked. Its quite a sight. He hasnt got it yet that if Bill Clinton, George Bush Sen. and a host of other major American Celebs can go walk about, dine in restaurants, shop and be politely ignored (not rudely but we respect peoples privacy here when they are on private time) the silly man is totally safe and so are his children!

Hes lost a lot of credibility over here, and in Europe. That silly dangling his child over a balcony slightly switched people off

Yeah, I don't think he does the mask to feel safe, but it started to keep germs out of his delicate vocal chords. Now it seems he simply does it as part of his attention getting scheme. I didn't know he was living in Ireland - last I knew, he was in the Mideast. Guess they got sick of him, too. I feel sorry for his kids. There is a woman here who I see at ds' school every day to pick up a child who looks EXACTLY like Debbie Rowe, his ex. Walks like her, body shape, everything.
