I have to agree with you - no idea how he made it this far - other than his cute face and nice eyes. He cant sing for nothin.

I thought Syesha was great. Didnt care for either the Davids tonight. Actually I dont like Archuletta, Cook could have done better considering the amazing songs he could have sung from the R&R Hall of Fame!

I can't even believe Castro sang "I Shot the Sheriff" and then forgot the words to the next one. Ughhh... I agree his time is up.

I'm a David A. fan to the end!

Time for the recap of singers and their songs, followed by my humble opinion (which by the way, is always right). What did you think???

David Cook
#1. Hungry Like the Wolf
I enjoyed it and liked it better than the judges did.

#2. Baba O'Riley
I LOVE this song, and I LOVED his performance. I knew he'd be good this wk since rock is his thing. But this song was great I thought. Loved the slow beginning.

Syesha Mercado
#1. Proud Mary
I liked this okay. I think this is one of those songs though that it's impossible to watch anyone do it and not compare them to Tina...and she's no Tina. But I still liked it okay.

#2. A Change is Gonna Come
I LOVED this song. I thought she was great and don't know WHAT THE HECK Randy was talking about. I'm sure the crying will probably get her some sympathy votes too. I know it was breaking MY heart.

Jason Castro
#1. I Shot the Sheriff
This isn't my favorite song even when sang well, but I sort of liked his Bob Marley twist on it. I liked it MUCH better than his second song. But this guy is just not in the same league with the other three remaining.

#2. Mr. Tambourine Man
SUCKED, SUCKED, SUCKED!!! Plus he forgot the words. My daughter has friends who sit around playing a guitar and singing who sound better than this guy. SEND HIM HOME ALREADY!!!

David Archuleta
#1. Stand By Me
I LOVE this song so it was easy for me to love this. I thought he sang it GREAT!!! I had goose bumps.

#2. Love Me Tender
I liked it and thought he sang it well, but wasn't as crazy about it as the judges were. it's another of those songs that you can only see Elvis Presley singing.

So my rankings for the night are:
#1. David A (by a hair)
#2. David C
#3. Syesha
#4-#100 My daughters friends
#101. Jason Castro

In his defense Jason was pretty decent in the beginning (of the competition, NOT tonight!) ...Tonight, yeah, he was pretty bad, I'm not sure his looks are going to get him through. I sincerely think he panicked on the second song, he must have looked up, caught sight of the Judges and just...BLECH...although it was the ONE part of the song he sounded JUST LIKE Bob Dylan

David Cook was MUCH better on the second song but was was going on with the band during all the first songs, they sounded so LOW.

Syesha...I told DH if she channels Tina Turner I'm done...she did and I was. It was too much. I liked her second song and it is a BEAUTIFUL song, but I kept Hearing the Queen Latifah (Hairspray) version in my head. I felt for her when she was crying though.

Archie...ah Archie...He should win Idol...I ONLY say thins b/c they can mold him any way shape or form and it will stick. If David Cook wins I think he'll have to compromise his Rocker sound and it just wouldn't be him.

That's not to say I didn't vote for David Cook tonight....several times

Shell, I agree about Jason!

I will be voting for Cook, but again I agree with Shell maybe he shouldn't win so he can do what HE wants!

I still think David C will win. I'm just hoping the two Davids are in the finals as I think they deserve to be.

I have never thought Jason was that good. He had about 2 good songs, and a few that were okay, but he's had more that were bad than were good. Not a good thing in a singing competition.

I just can't believe Michael and Carly got sent home and Jason in the top 4. I mean I just don't get it, never have WHY does he have a fan base??? I think after last night's performance though I don't see how even his fans could vote for him!!

I was disappointed with David C to be honest I expected MUCH better of him. He's been my fav for awhile and considering it was a Rock night I had high hopes. The 2nd song was better than the 1st. I do think he will win still.

I've always liked Syesha so I'm glad she did well, the 2nd song was great

David A did better than I have come to expect, lately his voice had been annoying me but I actually liked his songs.

So IMO from best on down for the night were: David A., Syesha, David C. and then way down the totem pole was Jason who I still think shouldn't have even made it to the top 10.

Jason lasted this long on the strength of Daydream/Hallelujah/Somewhere Over the Rainbow/Fragile. Most of his other songs were solidly "middle of the pack" and it was easy for him to outlast people like Ramielle and Kristi Lee Cook. And, if you're not a fan of the "folk rock" sound, there is nothing he could do that you would like. He's the first to admit he's now a power-singer/big voice guy. That is exactly why I've enjoyed him this year - such a change from the usual Idol contestants. That said...

Cookie - the Duran Duran song did nothing for me. I’m not a fan of the song, but Cook can often give me chills singing a song I don’t care for. That one just didn’t work for him. The Who song was much better, except for that low part near the start of the song where it sounded like it went too low for Cook’s voice. I'm liking the facial hair.
Archie - I can’t stand him, but I have to say “Stand By Me” was the first time I enjoyed one of his performances. That was really good. The Elvis song was just more of the same Archie. I am completely fed up with the fact that he will not do an uptempo song if his life depended on it. Reminds me of Ruben Studdard because he did the same thing.
Syesha - Never guessed her to stay this long but she’s really turned it up the last few weeks. Seems Broadway week made her realize she can play it up and put some moves on that she was too scared to do earlier. Doesn’t hurt her to be labelled “Broadway” as I think that’s where she wants to be. I didn’t care for the dance moves on the Tina Turner thing - it’s not Dancing w/ the Stars. Change is Gonna Come was nice - I thought she looked lovely. I still like Taylor’s take on that song better.
Jason - my Jason. All I wanted for him and Brooke was to make top 6 & they both surpassed my hopes. The Marley tune - I don’t care for the song, and I don’t care for Bob Marley, so there was no way it was going to win me over. But, I do agree with Paula that Jason was playing more to the audience for once. It seemed he was singing louder/stronger and I thought his voice was in good form. Watching it a 2nd time, it wasn't a train wreck. It was just sort of karaoke of Marley. I got the impression he thought he did really well and maybe expected praise for going outside the box. But, alas, they just wanted to throw him under the bus. The Dylan tune should have been a natural for him. He looked great - he sounded fantastic. When he first started I thought “Yes!” His voice was stronger again, fuller. And then he caught the McPheever and forgot a bunch of words. I also wondered if he was taking a dive to just get out now. I thought he would stay w/ getting lots of Brooke’s votes, but I think many fans who would have voted just couldn’t bring themselves to do it last night….

On the various idol boards, some think he lost confidence after the critique of his first song, and messed up the second (he did it perfectly in dress rehearsal). Others think he threw it on purpose. Some are saying he was mouthing the words "Don't Vote" after his first song. I'd have to look back on my DVR to check that out. Anyway - he's dead last in DialIdol. I really didn't want a david v david finale as it was so predictable. Jason will make a ton of money on the tour, placing 4th, and there are tons of people ready to buy a CD of his over either of the Davids, so I think he'll do fine in the long run. It's not like he had a prayer to win it anyway.
