His dad has been banned from anything backstage. According to this report he is a bit over zealous and has now cost Idol money!

So sad.... I hate when "stage parents" upstage the kids. I think he is a very talented young man. I hate that his father is causing him bad press.

Wow. That is really sad. I can understand parents pushing their kids to do the best but maybe this is a case of daddy not getting to the top during his time and now he is living it out through his son.

I have heard before that the dad was a major pain in the a$$. Of course, I can understand that David A is a minor and I would want to be around to see what my 17 year old was doing. But I don't think he should be so bossy.

But the other thing that sort of bugged me was that American Idol was making such a big deal out of it costing them extra money. They make a gazillion dollars, and I'm sure the dad didn't know it was going to cost more...I wouldn't have....so it sort of seems like me that AI could have just quietly handled this and paid the fee and told the dad...no more.

Sounds to me like he was warned...and they probably did tell him why. He sounds like a great big jerk to me....and what's up with always wearing the crappy cap?

Oh, that dad knew. He is a musician as well and he knows Idol has to get the rights to the songs and pay fees for them. I mean, practically every idol interview for the last 6 years someone mentions wanting to sing a certain song but they couldn't get permissions/couldn't get rights to it. This year they made a huge deal about finally getting permission for Beatles' songs. You have to pay to use music on the air. That is SOOOO basic. He knew. I think Idol looked the other way all this time re: all the complaints about him UNTIL he started costing them $. I feel bad for the other guys on the tour having to deal w/ Archie's dad as a chaperone.
