I dunno. If you wanted to get married, why wait for the news of a ban, and then publicize that you plan to do it, just to make a "statement". Either just do it, then mention it, or don't do it. Don't get married just for the publicity and to thumb your nose, which is what this seems like. I just don't think a real relationship should be a publicity machine or a political statement.

Funny you mentioned this -- I was just watching her annoucement on another window. I hope they are very happy -- Portia doesn't seem to be the dingbat that Anne Heche (however you spell her name) seemed to be.

I don't think it was political at all ( the California's Supreme Court ruled that people have a fundamental "right to marry" the partner of their choosing – therefore the previous ban on gay marriage was ruled unconstitutional)

They are allowing it so they are doing it! Congratulations to them!
