My sister took me to see "Batman: Dark Knight" for my birthday. I liked the movie and LOVED Heath Ledger's Joker. However, I made up my mind in the movie that my two young boys were NOT going to be allowed to see the movie. (they are only 5 and 7). I guess I must be a mean Mom, because my all of their little neighborhood friends the same age HAVE seen it already. (not to mention bragging about being able to see it!)

So... any other "mean moms" out there???

Well since it's rated PG-13, I would think most people with young children wouldn't be taking them. My 18 yr old dd saw it this wknd and she said it was VERY, VERY dark. So I wouldn't think that's appropriate at all for young children.

Funny you should post this. I saw this today and decided right away that was too scary for my guys... Although I have a feeling they will be the few of their friends to not see it this summer..

I haven't seen it yet but no way would I let my kids see it. They can barely handle Gremlins. Something tells me the Dark Knight is way ......dark.

my bro in law went to see this with his wife on Sat. and they said the same exact thing! DEFINATELY NOT FOR KIDS!!!! They couldn't believe how many little boys (and some girls) were at the movie when they were there. It was sold out and they said that about 1/4 of the seats had kids under 10 in them! A few parents left with their kids. My bro in law spoke to our neighbor just as he was getting ready to take his 6 year old son to the movie and my bil warned them that it would be a bad movie for kids and they still went...

I told my daughter tonight that people on here were asking about taking little kids and she gasped and said "No way!" She said it was really scary and she's 18!!

My kids are 8,6 and 2 and I don't let any of them watch any PG-13 movies. My 8yr old mentioned several times this year about kids in his class seeing PG-13 movies. I don't plan on letting him see any for some time...regardless of what other kids are doing. I believe they are rated that for a reason and he just isn't ready to see those kinds of things. I am not saying he won't see something PG-13 before he is 13 but at this point I don't think he is ready for it.

Add me to the mean moms/wife list...dh was dying to see it but I said NO Way! not with the kids (almost 7 & 5). We opted for Journey to the Center of the Earth. Very cool 3-D movie

I was at a 10 pm showing and there were parents with their children there. I must admit I probably would have been one of the moms who'd take my kids to it (if it were earlier)... until I saw it that is. There were a few scenes I looked away in. I guess I have this basic rule- If mummy can't stomach it then no way, no how would I let my ickle baby sit through it. Speaking as someone who had night terrors for 4 years through elementary school I think parents should be more cautious about what they allow young children to view. To this day every time I see a horror movie I fall asleep with the worst scenes from the movie going through my head (though I can fall asleep fine now).

I'd say all of the "mean moms" have it right on this one.
