Anyone have any good tips to prepping a turkey after it is thawed out?? I decided at the last minute that I will be making a turkey dinner on Thanksgiving-had thought of doing seafood but decided since I already had everything for a turkey dinner that I should just do it. So I am looking for tips and ideas to make my turkey extra delish. So what do you all do to get your turkey ready for the oven??? Any marinades, brining (think that's what it's called), etc??? TIA!!
I normally use my roaster for cooking a turkey so I do not know if that will make a difference in anyone's tips. I do think that I will stuff my turkey this year and see how everyone likes it.

Remember to take the turkey out of the freezer!

It's time to start thawing your turkey in the next couple of days ~ Thanksgiving is only 1 week away!!!

If you have a 22-23 lb or larger it should already be in your fridge. On average a 23 lb turkey takes about 6 days to thaw.

If you have a 18-20(ish) lb make sure you take it out today, tomorrow at the latest.

ALL birds being thawed in the fridge should be out of the freezer by Sunday to give them ample time to thaw. *In a 40* fridge you need to allow 24 hrs per 4 lbs of bird. *

If you forget to remove the turkey, no worries, a turkey can also be thawed breast side down in a *cold water bath at the ratio of 30 min per 1 lb of turkey. * Just remember to change the water often (about every 30 - 45 min or so).

1 8oz block of cream cheese
1 jar Silver Springs Cranberry Horseradish Sauce
Ritz or Town House Crackers

Place block of cream cheese on dish, pour sauce over cream cheese. Spread onto crackers. Yum!!

I am NOT (I repeat NOT) a horseradish fan, however this ROCKS! I served this actually a couple years ago for the first time at a christmas party and EVEYRONE loved it.

If you are looking for something a little out of the ordinary, but easy and yummy - try this!

Does anyone know anything about electricity? I went to put something in my microwave for lunch and saw that there was no power so I checked if it was plugged in, it was, so I checked my kitchen breaker and it was flipped off. I flip it back to the on position and BANG!!!!! OMG, I jumped so high:eek: Needless to say, the breaker is in the off position, my hubby told me to unplug the microwave and that it SHOULD be safe. So, my main question is, is it really safe to unplug it or should I just make hubby do it when he gets home from work?

What do you gals have cooking today??

Breakfast: ds1 & ds2 ate breakfast at school. Ds3 ate two pancakes, 1/2 banana and milk. Ds4 ate a whole banana, one mini pumpkin muffins and milk. I had ds3's other half of banana and coffee.
Lunch: Ds3 will want a PB&J sandwich. I will add some veggies with ranch and juice. Ds4-I will heat up some lo lasagna from last night and some carrots and peas. Me-?
Dinner: ??? We have school conferences tonight starting at 6. Than after that we have a Pack meeting. Normally there is a potluck dinner that goes with that meeting, but no one gave me details last week. Each den takes turns bringing food. I am waiting to hear back about whether or not we have a meeting. I am wondering that since it is a school conference night that it was postponed.

I work this morning so after I get home I need to put some laundry away.

Hope everyone has a fabulous day!!
