Green Christmas Lighting

As the holidays approach, it might be worth noting that they now sell LED Christmas lights both for inside the home and outside the home. These LED lights can save up to 80% more than traditional lighting and they also produce MUCH less heat so it cuts down on the fire risks.

Anyone use these already? How do you like em?

Gift certificate for massage
Donation to favorite charity
Gift certificate for meal (coffee, tea) together

What else is there that would be an experience rather than something that may end up in the landfill?

I tend to ignore spammy emails I get and just delete them. If you're like me, then this is just a good reminder to open stuff you don't read and unsubscribe. I've been doing this week as things come in - stuff from recipe websites, baby and parenting newsletters, emails from onlines stores I shopped at once, etc.

And I finally made it to the cashout amount for inboxdollars, and I'm quitting that one once I get my check. That will certainly lighten up my email-clicking load!

Non-profits like Goodwill and the Salvation Army play a crucial role in keeping old clothes out of the waste stream. When they get donations of clothes that are too threadbare to re-sell in one of their shops, they send them to “rag sorters” that specialize in recycling pieces of fabric large and small. Says Hawley, these textile recyclers sell about half the clothing they get back overseas in developing countries, while unusable garments, especially cotton t-shirts, are turned into wiping and polishing clothes used by a variety of industries and sold to consumers. She adds that other textiles are shredded into fibers used to make new products, such as sound-deadening materials for the automotive industry, archival-quality paper, blankets and even plastic fencing.

Is anyone aware of one?

All the toothbrushes these days have huge plastic handles for better gripe. But how long do you use a toothbrush? Two months before it is worn out? Just think of all the plastic you're using year after year after year ... ya, these are the things I think about when I'm brushing my teeth. :Ha Ha:

So does anyone know of an environmentally friendly toothbrush?
