What are some crafts you do with your 2-3 year old?

This is what I do with my little one that is 2.5 years old:

- painting ~ She loves painting printed out pictures of her favorite TV and book characters or on plain paper.

- collages ~ She loves putting cut up paper, buttons and other things on dots of glue I put on paper for her. She helps with the glue a little bit.

- Play Doh

- drawing with crayons and markers

- stickers on paper

I plan on adding more as she gets older.

Homemade gifts of Christmases Past

I've posted these before, but thought I'd put them all in one thread in case anyone was looking for some cheap, handmade gift ideas. I hope to add some new ideas soon. Feel free to add your own!

*Poop! *(Everyone's favorite)

Image: http://www.mommysavers.com/boards/gallery/images/7775/medium/1_snowman_poop.jpg

These are great to attach to gifts or make up a bunch of them to keep in a pretty basket by your front door for all of your holiday visitors.

Tie the "poop" up in a plastic baggie with a pretty ribbon and attach the following poem, inserting the appropriate "pooper" in the blank.

Heard you've been naughty!
        So here's the scoop
        all YOU get is
_____ Poop!

Snowman poop- use mini marshmallows
Reindeer poop- use chocolate chips, goobers, raisinetts, or milk duds
Gingerbread man poop- use gumdrops

Budget- $1 for baggies at the $1 store
$1 spool of ribbon at Joann's, Michael's or Target
$1 each for bags of candy (can probably be found at $1 store)

*
Snowman Soup*

Image: http://www.mommysavers.com/boards/gallery/images/7775/medium/1_souppic.jpg

Place the following ingredients in a ziploc bag

1 individual pack hot chocolate mix
2 chocolate kisses (eyes)
4 chocolate chips (mouth)
5-10 mini-marshmallows
1 candy cane

Place inside of a pretty holiday mug from the $1 store
wrap a piece of clear plastic "basket wrap" around the mug and tie with pretty ribbon
Attach the following poem:

*Snowman Soup*
Was told you've been real good this year.
Always glad to hear it!
With freezing weather drawing near,
You'll need to warm the spirit.
So here's a little Snowman Soup
Complete with stirring stick.
Add hot water, sip it slow.
It's sure to do the trick!

Budget- about $2.00 each once all ingredients are bought (based on 10 gifts)

prep time- maybe 15 minutes each

*Towel Angel

*Image: http://mommysavers.com/boards/picture.php?albumid=83&pictureid=571

Budget- $3 (everything was purchased at the dollar store)
Materials-
1 dish towel
1 finger towel
1 pot holder (I found a star that worked great but you could also use a square one folded so that the points stick out on the sides and look like wings)
1 rubber band
1 piece of ribbon

time- less than 5 minutes

directions- fold the dishtowel accordion style so that you end up with the ends towards the back, fold in half.
fold the finger towel the same way, fold in half over the top of the dishtowel.
wrap the rubber band around the top to form the head.
tuck the loop of the pot holder into the back of the rubber banded head.
tie a ribbon around the whole thing.

Your Opinion, Please! Coffee Table Height vs. Couch Height

I want a new coffee table. I have a pine, cedar-lined hope chest sitting in my storage room, filled with sleeping bags and other camping gear. I thought I could paint it a dark chocolate brown and change the two wood knobs on it to give it an updated look. However, it's 24 inches tall. I can easily saw off the feet, making it 22 inches tall, but my couch is only 18 inches tall.

Every guide I've read says the coffee table should be no taller than the couch. What do Mommysavers say? If I bring the chest upstairs, I can fill it with photo albums, and free up a storage closet in my hallway (Joy!!). But, if it won't work, it won't work, kwim?

Thanks for your Decorating Help!!!!
