Thanks for your input, ladies. I am really leaning toward moving her to our doc.

So far, I have only taken her to the ped. for her initial appt. and her follow up exam and shots. We have an international ped. on call (out of Charlotte...about 3 hrs. away) in the event there were any unusual ped. emergency, and he is WONDERFUL about doing phone consults.

I cringe at the thought of having to take her to the peds. office. It seems like they only get sicker once they leave.

Again, thanks for your valuable input.

My kids had a peditrician and I loved it, but since we moved 3 years ago we have seen a family practice dr. I don't want to drive out of town to take them to the dr and we don't have any peditricians in town.

My kids only see our pedi. for immunizations since our family dr. doesn't give them.

I have taken the girls to our local family practice since the day they were born. I have always been happy taking them there.

I have never really understood what the importance of a pediatrician is
I know people who drive an hour for their kids to see a pediatrician instead of taking them to a local family doc.
I have 4 kids and they always have been seen by my family doctors since day one, in the hospital. I really like it , since we all see the same doctor , it makes things so much easier.
Its also nice that they can stay with the same doctor once they are an adult too. Like my 19 year old , still goes to the same practice she has gone since she was born.

We use a pediatrician and LOVE her! My guys will switch when they want to, to our GP, any time after they turn 14 (the youngest age our GP will see).

I love our pediatrician and have no plans on switching to family doctor anytime soon as they are still little. Maybe once they get to high school they can make the change.

Not to be snarky, but the I think it is Way important. Ped's are much more knowledgeable about serious childhood illnesses - especially rare childhood cancers and such. Ds will be going to a ped. until he is 13 or 14 as well.
