I like to do the workd searches, but had not done them for awhile. Recently I bought a book of them and did some. I left it sitting on the table with a pen, and to my suprise all of my kids have been working on it!!! My kids vary in age from 6 to 13 and all four of them have worked on my book. I think I am going to make sure I always have one sitting around

Do you get a Sunday Newspaper? For the last couple of months I take out the Mini Page for my 5 yr old to do. They have a word search, dot to dot and an I Spy game. There are also facts about different stuff, maybe a cooking recipie and silly kid jokes!

Yes, word searches are great. If you google "free word search", you can find sites that will make word searches with whatever words you choose. On my work computer, I have a site bookmarked, but I don't have it here.

Every week, I make a word search for my first graders with their reading vocabulary words. They LOVE it! Typically, they work with a partner. When they find a word, they have to tell their partner the word before going on to the next word (to practice reading skills.) I've also made word searches with their classmates names. You could do all kinds of lists - - -family members' names, holiday words, spelling words, favorite characters, etc.

I used to get alot of Bible word searches off the internet for my 4th grade Sunday School class. They loved them.

I started my kids doing word searches as soon as they could recognize letters. at first I had them circle the letters in their name. my dd's have been doing alphabet seaches since they were 2. I guess now I realize why they appeared to be ahead of their peers with letter recognition.

My 7 year old LOVES these! She got a few books for Christmas, but until then if we didn't have any kids word searches around, she would ask me or my mom to make them for her....It's great b/c I use her weekly spelling words.

My 6 year old loves these too! Although she loves everything that has to do with reading and writing and mind puzzles!
