Funny story about Fort Gordon.
As a Canadian and a non family member to any service member in the Canadian services, I had ZERO exposure to the military before meeting dh. Also being a small town girl growing up with my ENTIRE family around me (cousins, aunts, uncles, etc) my dh feared that I would have a hard time living a military lifestyle. So just before he purposed (we had already started talking abuot getting hitched) he asked me to come down to Augusta where he was in A school. So I did. Upon arriving on base I was PETRIFIED of all the soliders in their cammies!!!!! I didn't know anything about rank at the time, and was absolutely pertrified of ALL of them walking around in their cammies ; regular uniform!  Looking back on it I laugh so hard because those guys there, were mainly fresh out of boot camp like my dh. We hung out near and around the barracks so I really had no reason to FEAR anyone! However, I still made sure I was walking a straight line and minding my manners when I spent time on base!
Aside from that, I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE Georgia. When I visited dh in Augusta, we went down to Savannah and I vowed to one day make it back here. It was breath taking! So laid back. Peaceful. Beautiful. I loved it! |
