I'm trying to save money while DH is deployed and its been harder than I thought. I've found that because he needs money there and I need money here, the money goes faster than before. Which is not good right now because his extra pay hasn't kicked in yet.

Anyone else in a similar situation?

That happened to us! Once the extra pay kicks in it does help quite a bit, so hang in there My DH was pretty good about not spending much while he was in Iraq, but what he did spend I think we had in a seperate account. That way when he got paid he knew how much he had and how much we had here.

He was gone 18 months and we got into a groove after a few months. By the time he returned we had a little over $10,000 saved.

Is he getting Hazardous duty pay and all that? I dont know your husbands rank or how ti works for him, but it adds up--you could save that alone and have quite a bit when he returns.

He'll only be gone for four months but I'm starting to get irritated because he's been gone for over a month and his extra pay hasn't kicked in yet. I'm doing my best to be careful here and he is not spending hardly anything, but because he does need some money and because we have extra bills coming out this paycheck because we were just SURE that we would start getting it by now, its really tough! I'm still waiting on one W-2 or I would go ahead and file taxes to at least have something. I just don't see how they can get away with not paying him that extra money when he's been over there since Jan 4th. I just checked his MyPay site and we're not getting it on the 1st paycheck either.

That's what DH said. I guess they waited until everyone that was going this rotation actually got over there before filing the papers for it. But the good news is, I got my last W-2 so I was able to e-file our taxes today and then I also called one of the companies we owe and talked to a nice lady who switched our payment to come out on the 15th of this month so we should be good until we get our tax $$! God is good!
