We just moved to a new town, and my dd wants to play volleyball. We found out that there is a spot open on the 7th and 8th grade traveling team. She played school volleyball in 7th and 8th grade at her old school as well as on a travelling team last year. There it costs me $50 for her to play and $20 for her uniform shirt. Here the fee for a season is $350!!! They are prorating it for us since the season has already started to $275. She said it should get cheaper every year since the club is just getting established. I expected things to be a bit more expensive here, but geez!!! I really do want her to play because she needs to practice if she wants to play on the high school team next year, plus, it could be great for her making friends, but... I am in shock!

My kids aren't that old yet, but I would think that is too high. It actually seems outrageous to me! I hope things aren't that expensive in middle school, or I'm in trouble! Maybe some other moms know if this is about right.

If you don't do your sports at your school...around here you can join different clubs or leagues which aren't specific to a school district and they can be costly. You can also do sports thru the community services of our city (or neighboring cities) and the fees are quite low.
