I remember back 10 years or so ago when the temps state wide (MN) were well below zero the then governor, Arne Carlson, cancelled schools in the entire state. Do they not do this anymore? The temps are supposed to be in the 20 below range tomorrow!!!! I sure don't want anyone walking to school!!!

I remember that too. It was insane cold that year. Here is the blurb I found...

" Feb. 2: On this day in 1996: State record low temperature set. With numerous media folk present, the low dipped to -60 three miles south of Tower. Governor Arne Carlson cancelled school statewide due to the cold."

Thank Goodness it won't be that cold. I do agree with you. In addition to the walkers, I worry about the poor kids that have to stand outside at the bus stop in the dark.

I think that is way to cold for kids to be walking in.

In the Febuary newsletter for ds school it states a hotline to call to see if there is school that day. It ALSO states that Parents always have the option to keep their children home if they feel it is unsafe to send them to school in inclement weather.

I'm in southern WI between Madison & Milwaukee, and I just looked online & saw that all the schools in our area are closed tomorrow. It doesn't matter to us for Monday, but if they're still closed on Tuesday, Quentin will not have preschool either. Tomorrow's high is -2, with windchills of up to -35, according to weather.com. Sounds like a good day to stay inside to me!

Are you in the Lakewood City School District? I saw it on the closing list...may not be your school district/school though...

I get the alerts from WEWS, you can sign up to receive closings/delays via text message or email and it's great.
