I would say that either he needs some cream or something on his bum if it looks irritated. Or maybe he is having gas pains and needs to poop.

Is it itchy???? If it's an itch and it's at bedtime it could be pinworm. Only if it's itchy though.

Is it the cheeks or in between? I have actually used preparation H on my kid. Diaper cream can help.

And he only does this at bedtime? That's odd. There is a thing where you can get spasms in the lower colon that cramp and hurt terribly. It feels like someone stabbing a knife inside the rectum and it does usually happen after people go to bed to relax. It is usually aggravated by stress. Is your child a high stress child or had things stressful going on lately? So check the usuals....stools, consistency, frequency, gas, rash around his anus, the disgusting wormy thing Jodie was talking about It is true pinworms will come out at night, but I agree they're more itchy than painful. Have you actually LOOKED down there. It could be a problem with "something" else and he's just calling it his butt. My ds had a problem with his testicle that we ended up having to take him to the ER the pain was so bad. Okay...all my ideas for now. Hope you figure something out. We can't have the poor little thing having pain every bedtime. Let me know what you find out...I'm nosey

Because it happens at night , this is the first thing that come to my mind as well. Im thinking that its itches and he said " my Butt wont let me sleep" Whih is kinda funny how he said that . But when i said something to other ppl if this could be it , THey acted like I was a idiot When i got him settled back in bed last night he cried out a few times before going back to sleep. But this morning I asked him what happen to his bottom he said something about going to the bathroom (sometimes its still hard to understand him) I dont know maybe he did strain to hard or something. Imma call the dr I guess . But I wonder if I can put it off until monday I dont have the money to pay the dr for a after hours clinic But i do hate for him to go through it all weekend. If its pinworms Im soooooo grossed out right now

It sounds like he strained too hard, so I'd do the Preparation H.

It sounds like he strained too hard, so I'd do the Preparation H. Also, getting him some Kandoo toddler wipes can help him be gentler on himself and clean better during this time. Kids tend not to clean themselves well.
