Those of you with teenage children, Do you allow them to sleep until they wake up on weekends/days off or do you make them get up at a certain time? Do you put off things so that you do not disturb them so that they can sleep.
Being a step parent of teens I tread this matter lightly but was wondering what others allow their teens to do????? I don't usually wake them up but I refuse to wait until they get up to do my weekend cleaning and laundry (the washer is by my teen daughter's room).
So what do you do??????????

I have 2 and one gets up at the same time every weekend or day off about 7:00. She just doesn't like to sleep in much. The older one sleeps in any chance she can get we let her but no we aren't super quiet or anything so tha she can. I also am a person who loves to sleepin but I don't expect everyone to not do anything so I can!

I am mean, I guess. I do let mine sleep in, but I don't let them sleep away the weekend. My oldest dd works part time, so she usually has to get up anyhow. Right now, our biggest problem is bedtime with her. She thinks she shouldn't have one (she is a senior), nor does she want a weekend curfew of 11pm. HA! So far, the rule of "as long as you live in MY house" has worked!

We're more like blessed with 6. I do let them sleep in late on days off, but not REAL late. One of my best friends and I just had this conversation the other day. She's always maintained that she has no control over her children's sleep. They just go to bed "whenever" and get up "whenever" (obviously they get up if they have to for school, etc). I said, "well I'm way meaner than you, because I DO make my kids go to bed and I DO make them get up". So even on wknds, I tell them to go to bed at a reasonable hour, and on wkends I make them get up by 9 or 10 at the latest. I know some people who say their teens sleep until 4PM or so on the wknds. No way!!

My son is so busy on the weekends he doesn't have much time to sleep in. The few occasions he has slept in he is out of bed by 9 am.

I will let my dd sleep until ten on Saturday morning and when school is out. Though I am not quite, and I know my 4 and 6 yr olds aren't quite!! She can sleep through anything anyway she is a deep sleeper.
