Ok I need some help with this I need to know if there are any sites out there where I can get some ideas on to teach her how to read a clock and tell time she knows how to count by 5's to actually read a clock .Or any books I can get to work with her at home. She does good reading a digital clock but when it comes to reading a regular clock with hands she can't they are trying to work on it in school but i want to do extra work with her at home.

Ds is in preschool, but I have gotten him this toy clock. It doesn't actually 'keep' time, but when you move the hands, it will say, "5 past 10, 10 past 10" and so on. It also has a quiz feature that will ask the child to set the clock's hands to a certain time and then will tell them if they are right or not. I got through a high-end catalog, but since have seen it at Toys R Us.

Another thing that helped us was this book I got by Usborne that had a clock (again didn't keep time) that you moved the hands yourself and it took the child through the day.

For our ds, (5) I just keep working with him, I'll tell him to look at the clock and whatever time it is I will tell him "Oh, it's 10 minutes after 10" and so on. I think it's just practice.

The dollar store usually has a foam clock puzzle too. It is nice to work with. My kindergartner learned how to tell the time as far as on the hour, quarter hour, and half hour already this year. I was shocked. I have an education in elementary education, and that was a SECOND grade skill when I was in college doing my student teaching!!!

My son's in first grade and that's part of his curriculum, too. He's doing so well! We've actually been using his homework, but if you have Lakeshore Learning, they probably have some great things for it.

Hands down THE BEST book for teaching how to tell time is the Klutz book. It comes with a wrist watch on the cover. It isn't a cheap book but it is so CLEAR for me and the kid.

Counting by 5's is a really hard and advanced concept. It takes kids a long time to catch onto that one.
